How To Stop Self-Sabotaging

Episode 47 How To Stop Self-Sabotaging. Learn to recognize the different ways you can be sabotaging your dreams.

Learn To Stop Self-Sabotaging Your Dreams

We all have dreams. Dreams of accomplishing something big or living a better life. The dreams we have started when we were children. We dreamt of being superheroes or being wealthy and driving that luxury car. In our minds, we were rock stars and great athletes. We married our prince or princess and lived happily ever after. As we got older our dreams might have changed. Many times life doesn’t turn out the way we dreamed it would as children. We forget about our dreams and accept life as it is. Have you forgotten about your dreams? Did you lock them away in a trunk and bury them in your dark, damp basement?

My wife and I have been together for 30 years and are happier than ever. Here are some tips on how we keep our relationship fresh and exciting. Get your FREE Relationship Tips Today!

Don’t Bury Your Dreams

Why do we bury our dreams? A small percentage of the population never does. They continue to pursue their dreams until they turn them into reality. These people persevere and overcome all challenges that life throws at them. They know that they are in control of their outcome. Whether they succeed or fail is up to them. The larger percentage of the population never realize their dreams mainly because of self-sabotage. They allow outside forces to determine the type of life that they will live. Learn to recognize when you are self-sabotaging and how to stop.

For me, I have a dream of helping millions of people, not one or two but millions. I dreamed that those millions will use what I taught them to help billions. I want to do this through my blog, my podcast, and the courses that I develop. Currently, I have developed courses on self-confidence and goal setting. My plans are to develop many more courses and I am working on that every day. For me to be successful I have to be aware of and avoid self-sabotage.

Five Ways

The definition of sabotage is an act or process which tends to hurt or hamper. So, what are some of the things that you are doing to sabotage your efforts? These are things that are holding you back in keeping you from moving forward. Here are five ways in which you are self-sabotaging:

  1. Your words and thoughts are not in alignment;
  2. You are speaking what you have;
  3. Not controlling your fears;
  4. Your circle of friends;
  5. Trying to accomplish your dreams alone.

Imposter Syndrome

Many times when we are speaking positive affirmations we are subject to a psychological effect called, “Imposter Syndrome.” Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern in which a person doubts their skills, talents, or accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a “fraud” We don’t believe what we are saying, therefore, our thoughts are different than our words. The way to defeat this sabotage is by continuing your positive affirmations until you begin to believe. Once you believe in yourself your words and thoughts will come into alignment.

Speak What You Want

Another way that you are self-sabotaging is that you are speaking what you have not what you want. You tend to focus on the negative when you are speaking. This is only going to continue to bring what you don’t want into your life. For example, if you are currently struggling financially and someone asks, “how are you doing?” How do you respond? Do you tell them what you have, “a lot of debt”, or what you want, “I am financially independent?” Think about the words that come out your mouth before you say them and only speak what you want not what you have.

Fears

Your fears can be a powerful tool for self-sabotage. Fears are something that everyone has and you have to learn how to control them. I already mentioned how your fear of being a “fraud” can sabotage your dreams. One of the biggest fears that will keep you from achieving your dreams is the fear of criticism. Your fear that you will be criticized, or made fun of, will prevent you from doing what is necessary to accomplish your dream. Your dream has to be bigger and more important to you than the opinion of others. Never tell your big dream to small-minded people.

Your Circle

Speaking of small-minded people, who is in your circle of friends? Do they believe in you? You can be self-sabotaging your dreams by simply listening to your small-minded friends and family. I place people into two categories, “Wind,” which will fill your sails and push you forward or, “Anchors,” which will keep you from moving and possibly pull you down with them. Most of my time is spent with people who believe in me. I don’t have time, and neither do you, for the anchors in your life. Don’t allow other people to decide what life you will live.

Find Your Team

Finally, don’t sabotage your dreams by trying to accomplish them alone. Everyone needs help. Anyone who has ever brought their dreams to reality did it with a team. Your dream should be big, it should scare you, and it’s going to be too difficult to do it alone. Begin to put your team together that will encourage you and mentor you. People that you trust and believe in you will help you identify these patterns of self-sabotage.

Being able to recognize the ways that you are self-sabotaging your dreams and how to stop this behavior is key to your success. Make sure that your words and thoughts are in alignment and speak what you want not what you have. Recognize your fears and work on controlling them. Reduce or eliminate the time you spend with negative people. Begin to form your team and don’t try to accomplish your dreams alone. I encourage you to check out my courses which are designed for your self-improvement. All the techniques that I teach have been proven to work and will help you to reach your dreams. Always think of ways to improve yourself as an investment which will give you a huge return.

10 Quotes On Believing In Yourself

These 10 quotes on believing in yourself will help you to overcome doubt.

You must believe you can. If anyone else can do this, you can do this as well. Yes, you can!
 – Tamara Tilleman

10 Quotes On Belief

I have very good conversations with several people who think as I do. We believe that your life is based on your thoughts. If you’re controlling your thoughts and thinking positively, you will lead a positive life. I began thinking about these people and realized something important. Most of them spend money to attend self-improvement seminars, workshops, and weekends. Many are not living the lives that they are seeking. I wondered why not.

My wife and I have been together for 30 years and are happier than ever. Here are some tips on how we keep our relationship fresh and exciting. Get your FREE Relationship Tips Today!

Celebrities?

Are people looking for an authoritative figure in their lives? If they are spending money going to retreats to feel better, do they ever make permanent changes to their lives? Why not? Possibly, they are seeing the speaker as a celebrity. They put them on a pedestal and by doing so they believe that person is better than them. Therefore, they don’t make a change because they don’t believe they are good enough.

To be a great champion you must believe you are the best. If you’re not, pretend you are.
 – Muhammad Ali

Always remember you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.
 – Christopher Robin

An Essential Part Of Change

Belief is an essential part of change. You must believe you can be the person you are trying to become. There are leaders and there are followers. Leaders believe they can lead and followers don’t. Belief is difficult to come by and must be developed. You are battling everything that you have been told and thought in the past.

Anything is possible once we believe and never relinquish hope.
– Shadonna Richards

Believe in yourself, push your limits, experience life, conquer your goals and be happy.
– Joel Brown

Stop Chasing!

No one is better than you! Stop chasing the so-called gurus and realize they are no different from you. Every one of them was where you are before they believed they could change. Most of them genuinely want to help. They are not scam artists just looking for your money. It is the audience that never makes the change. They don’t continue it long enough to develop belief.

If you can believe it, the mind can achieve it.
 – Ronnie Lott

Whatever you want in life, other people are going to want it too. Believe in yourself enough to accept the idea that you have an equal right to it.
 – Diane Sawyer

Use These 10 Quotes

My unsolicited advice is to find a mentor who teaches a process. Follow the process and commit to it for life. Don’t be in a hurry. You have little control over the timing. Trust in the process. Use these 10 quotes on believing in yourself.

Great things are accomplished by talented people who believe they will accomplish them.
 – Warren G. Bennis

Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to a solution.
– David J. Schwartz

Words vs Thoughts

There is a difference between words and thoughts. We first begin journal statements, a gratitude pad, etc., we think about what we are writing. This time goes by, we know what we’re going to write and don’t have to think about it as much. Our journal becomes words on paper, not thoughts. Take time to meditate and think about what you wrote.

Anything is possible once you believe you are worthy of achieving it.
– Jason Pockrandt

It Starts Upstairs

Change begins in your mind. I am living my life today based on my thoughts in the past. Now that I understand this concept, I can determine my future by controlling my thoughts. This is the process I use to accomplish this:

  1. I make my predominant thought that which I want to become. I think about what my life will look like in the future.
  2. When I go to bed at night, the last thing I do before going to sleep is to think about my life in the future. I visualize in my mind what I will be doing and how I will be living.
  3. I spent time in the morning meditating and visualizing my future life.
  4. When I’m visualizing the life that I’m living it must feel natural and normal. I’m not living someone else’s life, I’m living mine.
  5. Before visualizing, I elicit emotions. I think about the first time I saw my wife and it brings up the emotions I had at the time. Adding emotion and feeling to your thoughts is the ingredient to turn them into reality.

Believe in yourself. If you don’t have belief then begin developing it. These 10 quotes on believing in yourself are a start. Start speaking and thinking like the person you want to become. Do this every day and you will develop belief. Continue to develop your belief until it turns into faith. Faith is an unstoppable force. You were born for greatness, believe it.

Using The Telepathy Connection To Achieve Your Desires

Today I’m going to continue discussing, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. This chapter titled, The Brain, is Hill’s 12th step in acquiring riches. In this chapter, Hill begins bringing the previous steps together showing how everything works in your mind. Similarly, he discusses using the telepathy connection to achieve your desires.

The Telepathy Connection

One of my favorite sayings is, “It all begins in the mind.” By controlling your thoughts you can determine your future. Hill describes the brain as a radio. It is the broadcasting and receiving station for thought. You can pick up vibrations of thought from others. In an earlier post, I wrote about creative imagination. Creative imagination is the receiver. You can communicate through your conscious mind.

When you increase your vibrations, your brain becomes more receptive and you can pick up thoughts and ideas in your creative imagination. You increase your vibrations through your positive or negative emotions. Therefore, thoughts can travel from one person to another but only when your mind is vibrating at an exceedingly high rate.

Achieve Your Desires By Increasing Your Vibration

Your thoughts are energy traveling at a high rate of vibration. You can increase the vibration of your thoughts by tapping into any emotions. Thoughts increased by emotion vibrate at higher rates than ordinary thoughts. Therefore, this type of thought can pass from one brain to another. In addition, thoughts stimulated by the emotion of sexual desire vibrate at a higher level than those stimulated by any other emotion.

Thoughts vibrating at a high rate also gives to your thoughts, feeling. Adding feeling to your thoughts is necessary for them to be picked up by the subconscious mind. The subconscious mind is the transmitter or sending station. As I said earlier, creative imagination is the receiving station. You receive ideas from other minds that have put their thoughts out into the universe. Using autosuggestion you can begin receiving and sending controlled thoughts.

3 Principles

To begin transmuting your thoughts into your equivalent desires you just need to remember three principles:

  1. The Subconscious Mind;

  2. Creative Imagination;

  3. Autosuggestion.

Scientific Research

I began researching to see if there were any scientific studies on transmitting thoughts from one person to another. What I found was quite remarkable. Have you ever received a phone call from someone you hadn’t spoken with in a while, after recently thinking about them? This has happened to me several times in my life. The other person always says that they were recently thinking about me and that we haven’t talked in a while. This is a prime example of thought, mixed with an emotion being sent by one person and received by another.

Scientists have determined there are 86 billion neurons in the human brain. They are not evenly distributed in some parts of our brain have more than others. Recent scientific studies have shown there can be a direct transmission of brain activity by the use of Brain-to-Brain Interfaces (BBI). They have accomplished these transmissions between two animals, two humans, and even a human and a rat.

Transmitting Thoughts

Cell-to-cell transmission occurs by synaptic transmission. Chemical signals pass between the cells of our brain. Scientists have used BBI to transmit the thought of moving a hand between two people. One person thought about the other moving their hand and the receiver moved their hand. They have even been able to transmit thoughts over long distances. In August 2014, researchers were able to transmit thought from India to France.

The science of telepathy is ongoing. More research is being conducted in using the telepathy connection between individuals. Earlier research showed positive results but had issues in sample size and duplication. The research has come a long way and is fascinating.

What About You?

Have you been using the telepathy connection to achieve your desires? If not, begin by thinking about what you want and mixing it with emotion and feeling. Utilize autosuggestion or positive affirmations to send out your thoughts. You will receive thoughts and ideas that will, directly and indirectly, help you to achieve your desires.

Don’t forget to like, comment, and follow. I hope everyone is doing well and thanks for reading.

What Does Commitment Mean

I attended a webinar a couple of weeks ago hosted by Sean Croxton from his website, seancroxton.com. In the webinar, he talked about our limiting mindset when it comes to making money. Our brains protect us which can actually stop us from acquiring abundance. In Episode 43 I talk about the question; What does commitment mean?

Join our team and subscribe to my email list.

The Meaning Of Commitment

Our brain is wired to block us from change. This has happened to me several times when I decided to make a change. Has it ever happened to you that you decided to improve yourself and an assortment of negative things started happening? This is your brain blocking your change. Soon you will slip back into your old habits. Most New Year’s resolutions only last till January 14th. This is why gyms are crowded in January and empty out in February.

75% Of The Solution

The main thing I took away from the webinar was that most people don’t succeed when they try to make a change. The reason for this is that the decision to improve yourself is 25% of the solution. The other 75% is commitment. People simply make a decision but they don’t commit to that decision. If you don’t commit, then you will not be successful.

Relationships

In relationships, both people must be committed to making it work. Commitment is simply this, it’s 100%. You can’t expect to make a 99% commitment and be successful. It’s all or nothing. If you make your decision, you must commit to it. If you are not going to commit, then don’t make the decision. You will do yourself more harm mentally. Whenever I decided to lose weight and I committed to that decision, I could lose weight rather quickly. If I did not commit to that decision, I wasn’t successful and would beat myself up mentally.

Taking A Punch

When you see a fight before the first punches are thrown both fighters have the same look on their face. They look stern, angry, and focused. When one of the fighters gets hit in the mouth, sometimes you will see a total change in their face. All the adrenaline and anger leaves their body. You can tell that they do not want to continue. This is because they made a decision to fight but weren’t committed to winning.

Our Conflicted Brain

It seems like an easy thing to commit to anything but for whatever reason, most people don’t do it. The reason has to do with your brain which is always in conflict. There are scientists who devote their lives to studying the brain and its many functions. I’m not one of them but I do read a lot and listen to these scientists.

The brain is made up of different parts and each part performs different functions. The main function of the brain is to protect us and keep us safe. It prefers balance. When you decide to make a change it creates a conflict. The way your brain handles this is that it’s wired to pull you back into your comfort zone. As long as you stay in your comfort zone, your brain perceives balance. This is why simply making a decision is not enough for success.

The Subconscious

You are probably all heard of the fight, flight, or freeze response to danger. Because your brain under stress operates on your subconscious, you don’t think about what you’re doing. You just react to the situation. Your subconscious thoughts are made up of your training and experience. On 9/11, you saw first responders run into the twin towers while everyone else was running away from them. The only way they could override the brain’s primary function of survival was to be committed to saving as many lives as they could.

A Big WHY

The best way to make a commitment is to have a big WHY. I’ve said this many times before and I will continue to beat this drum. If you have a WHY that is large and emotional, you can be or do anything you want. Your WHY is your commitment. You cannot have an emotional WHY and not be committed.

If you decide you want to lose weight, improve your relationship, or build wealth, commit to that decision. Think about WHY you want to do it. Is it because you want to prove all the naysayers wrong? Maybe you want to improve your health so you can be active with your family? Do you want the peace of mind that comes from being financially independent? Whatever your reason, make it big, and commit to it.

Take a look at my courses!

Commit

Commit, commit, commit. It is only through your commitment to your decision to change that you will overcome the conflicts in your brain. Your thoughts from the past are why you are what you are today. The only way to make a change in yourself is to replace all of your old thoughts. Your old thoughts are probably limiting. Understand that we live in an unlimited universe and begin to think in unlimited terms.

Your commitment will allow you to overcome all the obstacles put in front of you by the universe and your own brain. It is only through commitment that success is possible. Commit and succeed.

Kalpana Chawla Dared To Dream

My wife and I were watching the SpaceX rocket launch last week and it reminded me of a post I wrote about Kalpana Chawla. Kalpana inspires me because she is an example of making dreams come true by her thoughts. She accomplished much in her short life. Today, millions of people are inspired because Kalpana Chawla dared to dream.

Subscribe To Our Team!

I’ve always been interested in space travel. I watch every launch I can. I remember watching the first astronauts launch in the 60s and continue to watch the SpaceX launches. My first recollection of seeing Kalpana Chawla was when she was a member of mission STS-107 and was about to board the space shuttle Columbia on January 16, 2003. Kalpana stood out to me as the seven Columbia crew members were shown walking to their vehicles. She appeared too young and small to be an astronaut. How she carried herself with such confidence was what stood out to me.

Kalpana Chawla

Kalpana Chawla was born July 1, 1961, in Karnal, India. She always enjoyed flying and held many pilot licenses. She could fly about any airplane. Her family was middle class and she graduated from high school in 1976. After graduating from high school, she found herself as the only female in the aeronautics batch at Punjab University. Her parents resisted her career choice but nothing could stop Kalpana.

Kalpana Chawla dared to dream and always had big dreams. Her dreams were to travel beyond the blue yonder, fly into the heavens, and touch the stars someday. She became the first female Indian-born NASA astronaut. Kalpana wanted to show the world that dreams do come true with hard work and patience. She said, “You can achieve what you dream with strength, endurance, willpower, and confidence. She was 1 of 2000 applicants for a civilian scientist’s position on Columbia’s voyage.

Kalpana’s Thoughts Became Her Reality

When she was living in the dorms while studying for her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees, she had pictures of space shuttles taped to her walls. She didn’t think at the time she was putting them up that one day she would fly on one. When I read about this it didn’t surprise me because what you look at every day becomes your thoughts in your subconscious. Your thoughts turn into your reality.

Kalpana-Chawla-dared-dream-space-shuttle

Kalpana is a great example that we can become anything we want to if we put our mind to it. She dreamed of flying to the stars, surrounded herself with pictures of the space shuttle, which became her thoughts. Her thoughts directed her actions and interactions became reality. She set goals to keep her on track and enjoyed the journey. Her thoughts on goals were, “When you are going for a goal, the journey is the best part.”

Heading Into Space

Kalpana’s first opportunity to travel beyond the blue yonder and fly into the heavens came when she was selected to be part of the crew on mission STS-87 in November 1997. She flew on the space shuttle Columbia as they completed 252 orbits of the earth in just over two weeks. In 2000, she was selected for her second voyage on Columbia as a mission specialist on STS-107. Because of many delays they didn’t launch until January 16, 2003. It was an ill-fated launch due to a piece of foam that broke off and damaged the heat tiles on the spacecraft wing.

On February 1, 2003, I was running on a treadmill at my gym and turned on the TV to watch Columbia land. They showed maps of the flight path Columbia would take to land at Kennedy Space Center. I began reading at the bottom of the screen that they had lost communication. The next images were from cameras in Texas and showed fiery streaks in the sky. I realized at that moment that Columbia had broken up in the crew had perished. It was a sad day for the world and particularly the country of India.

Women’s Struggles In India

Kalpana Chawla had accomplished much while growing up in a male-dominated society and country. In the 1970s and 1980s, women in India were fighting battles against:

            – Dowry

            – Rape

            – Caste Crimes

            – Unjust Laws

            – Better Working Conditions

            – and more.

My admiration for Kalpana Chawla comes from the fact that she would not let anything stop her from her dreams. She had a definite purpose and persevered to achieve her dreams. For millions of young Indians, she was inspirational. Kalpana Chawla dared to dream. She gave them hope that they could dream and work hard to achieve those dreams.

The Importance Of Retirement Planning

I have been retired for seven years now and I enjoy every minute of it. I retired when I was 53 years old but could have (and should have) retired at the age of 50. There has been a lot to learn in my retirement. I can describe my retirement in one word, options. There are unlimited options for me now that I didn’t have when I worked for the government. I can be or do anything I want now. Today I want to discuss the importance of retirement planning.

Take Control Of Your Life! My Courses Will Start You On Your Journey To Self-Improvement.

Planning For Retirement

When I was working, I attended a pre-retirement seminar a couple of years before I retired. We were allowed to request attendance five years before our minimum retirement date. At the end of the seminar, I wrote on my evaluation that it was great information. The only problem was we needed the information sooner. It was too late for a lot of people to do what was needed for a comfortable retirement. Here are five things to do for a comfortable retirement.

  1. Begin Planning Early.
  2. Develop Specialized Knowledge and Skills.
  3. Find a Good Financial Planner.
  4. Begin Saving Early.
  5. Pay off Your Mortgage.

Begin Planning For Retirement Early

When I started my career I was 23 years old. Two things that I never thought were going to happen back then were: I would retire; I would get old. When you’re young you never think about getting old but it is inevitable. It happens to all of us. Importance of retirement planning is crucial. Starting your career is when you should start planning for your retirement. Begin thinking about what you want to do and how you want to live when that day finally comes.

Beginning your plan early will allow you to adjust to everything life throws your way. Sometimes life throws you the good things, marriage, children, etc. Other times the bad things death, injury, sickness, etc. Good things and bad will affect your retirement. By planning for the future early in your career you can minimize the impact.

Specialized Skills And Knowledge In Retirement

During my 30 year career, I developed certain skills and knowledge. After I retired I learned that most of my skills and knowledge didn’t transfer to my new life. If you have generalized skills and knowledge, you will learn that everyone is retired with the same skills. There’s a lot of competition. Finding your niche will help you stand out against the competition. I suggest that you research throughout your career skills that are needed in the private sector. Take courses and study those skills to gain the knowledge that you need.

A Financial Planner Is Important

Find a good financial planner. Unless you are an expert on finances you will need a financial planner. They can help you make the right decisions with your money. This will allow you to keep as much money as you can before retirement. It is a big change to go from knowing a check is coming every two weeks to a smaller check once a month. You will need to supplement your retirement with other sources of income if you want to maintain your current lifestyle.

importance-retirement-planning-100-dollar-bills

Save Early And Often

Begin saving as early as you can. The earlier you begin the more money you will have in retirement. I always put money into my Thrift Savings Account, which is the government 401(k). If I had to do it over again I would maximize my contributions. In retirement, you can use your savings to supplement your retirement. I withdraw a certain amount every month. Because the stock market has done so well, my savings have increased.

Saving early is probably the most important thing you can do. I recommend setting a goal for the amount of money you want to save before retirement. For me, the best thing was having it withdrawn from my paycheck and placed into my account. Out of sight, out of mind. Since I never saw the money it was like it never existed. My savings account would grow every two weeks without me doing anything.

My wife and I have been together for 30 years and are happier than ever. Here are some tips on how we keep our relationship fresh and exciting. Get your FREE Relationship Tips Today!

Eliminate That Big Debt

Pay off your mortgage. My mortgage is my biggest expense as it is for most people. Since I transferred a lot during my career I was not able to pay off my last mortgage. I bought houses and sold houses; made and lost money. If I had stayed in one location, in the same house, I wouldn’t have to worry about a mortgage now. I think about what I could do in the places I could go if I didn’t have a mortgage. If at all possible, pay off your mortgage before you retire.

These are just five things I wish I had known before retirement. One can’t overstate the importance of retirement planning. I am not an expert on retirement or financial planning. I hope that you will begin thinking about retirement now that you are young and not wait until it’s too late. Do your research, make a plan, and find a financial planner to help you. Always remember to start saving early.

10 Quotes About Planning For The Future

I am continuing to talk about the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Today I will discuss the sixth step, organize planning. It is through organizing planning that you turn your desire into action. By setting up solid plans for your future you will be able to turn your dreams into reality. I have also included 10 quotes about planning for the future to help you understand the importance of a good plan.

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
~ Antoine de Saint-Exupéry

“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.”
~ Benjamin Franklin

10 Quotes About Planning For The Future

Now that you have your desire or definite purpose you want to tap into your imagination to help create your plan for the future. I discussed in last week’s post how your imagination can be thought of as your workshop where your plans are created and organized. I have also talked about in previous posts the six steps for turning your thoughts into reality. The formation of a practical plan is one of the steps.

  • Find a group of like-minded individuals to help you create your plan.
  • Decide what form of compensation that you will trade for their help.
  • Meet with the group at least twice a week.
  • Maintain perfect harmony between yourself and every member of your group.

You Will Need Help Planning

This group is what is known as a “Master Mind” group. It can consist of as many people as you may need. One person might suffice or you might need many more to tap into their “specialized knowledge.” Let’s face it, it is extremely difficult to accomplish anything alone. We simply don’t have all the knowledge necessary to create our plans for the future.

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.”
~ Pablo Picasso

“Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.”
~ Tom Landry

Everything begins in the mind as a thought. It is going to take a solid, practical plan to transform that thought into an actual physical item, such as money. Once you have your plan, go to work. Do something every day and continue to take advice from your “Master Mind” group.

“Good fortune is what happens when opportunity meets with planning.”
~ Thomas Edison

“You can always amend a big plan, but you can never expand a little one. I don’t believe in little plans. I believe in plans big enough to meet a situation which we can’t possibly foresee now.”
~ Harry S. Truman

You Never Plan To Fail, But It Happens

Your first plan might not be your best plan and you find it doesn’t work. No worries most first plans fail. Henry Ford built two automobile businesses that failed before he started the Ford Motor Company. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb. If you fail, go back and redo your plan and try again. Keep reworking your plan until you find one that works.

“A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.”
  ~ George S. Patton

5 Techniques For Using Auto-Suggestion

The book I’m reading for January is Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. It’s a fascinating book written in the 1930s. Hill devoted 25 years of his life and spoke with 500 successful and wealthy men. He discovered 13 steps that all the men had in common and used to obtain their wealth. This is my second time reading this book and Hill says it takes three times to fully understand the content. Also, you must faithfully complete the exercises he lays out to get the most out of the book. In this chapter, he writes about 5 techniques for using auto-suggestion to obtain what you desire.

5 Techniques For Using Auto-Suggestion

Auto-suggestion is the third step to obtaining what you desire. I wrote about steps one and two, Desire and Faith, in my last two blog posts. When talking about auto-suggestion, you must understand how your conscious and subconscious mind works. All suggestions and self-administered stimuli reach our mind to your five senses. Auto-suggestion becomes a bridge between your conscious and subconscious mind. Your dominating thoughts are contained in your conscious mind. By using auto-suggestion or positive affirmations, they will move into your subconscious mind and influence you into action.

Your Conscious Mind

Everything you perceive through your five senses is stopped by your conscious mind. Your conscious mind has the power to pass these perceptions to your subconscious mind and it also has the power to reject them. The conscious mind cannot differentiate between positive and negative perceptions. Whatever thoughts are dominating your conscious mind will be passed to your subconscious mind.

Your Subconscious Mind

Your brain is built so you have complete control of what enters your subconscious mind. Whether they are positive thoughts or negative thoughts is up to you. You can control the type of thought you want to allow into your subconscious mind. Think of your thoughts like seeds. Positive thoughts will grow positive results (flowers). On the other hand, negative thoughts will grow negative results (weeds).

The five techniques for using auto-suggestion are:

  1. Write down a statement of what you desire and when you want to have it. Next, write what you are willing to give up and your plan for obtaining it.
  2. Read your statement aloud twice a day; once in the morning and once before going to bed.
  3. Close your eyes and see yourself having what you desire.
  4. Feel the emotions that you will feel when you obtain it.
  5. Have faith that everything you wrote in your statement will come true.

Faith

By feeling the emotions of having what you desire you will communicate your desire directly to your subconscious mind. Closing your eyes and seeing yourself in possession of your desire, along with feeling the emotions, will eventually lead to giving you the spirit of faith. Go back and read last week’s blog post to understand the importance of faith. Without faith, your statement is just words. This is the reason most people fail to obtain their desires; they never develop faith.

5 Auto-suggestion Techniques

These 5 techniques for using auto-suggestion are necessary to get what you desire. You are applying the principle of auto-suggestion. Faith is your strongest emotion and your subconscious mind will act upon your faith. It is normal to be skeptical whenever you are approached with a new idea. It sounds too easy but the power of auto-suggestion will turn your skepticism into belief. Eventually, your belief will turn into faith.

Control Is In Your Hands

You are the master of your destiny. You and only you determine the life you want to live. The dominating thoughts in your conscious mind passed through to your subconscious mind determines your actions. In turn, your actions will determine your reality. If you want to change your life, it can happen with these 5 techniques for using auto-suggestion.

What Is Your WHY In 2021?

For my January posts, I wanted to get you started off right on your journey to a new you. If you have made the decision that you want to be better off this time next year, this post will supply you with the main ingredient. I know that you have set your goals for 2021 and written your plans. Now comes the question, “What is your WHY in 2021?”

Are You Struggling With Self-Confidence? I Have Created A Course To Help You Find Yours!

What Is Your Why In 2021

January 2021 is your beginning. It is time to step out on the path, look up at the mountain, and begin your journey. You should be excited and keep that excitement throughout your journey. Enjoy it. It’s not always going to be as easy as the first day. This is why you have to answer that question, “What is your WHY in 2021?” Your WHY has to be yours. It has to be big and emotional.

Think And Grow Rich

Every January I reread, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. In his book, Hill defines the 13 steps necessary to obtain wealth. To write this book, Hill spent 20 years interviewing 500 men of wealth during the early 20th century. He discovered that each one had the same 13 traits. One of the traits that each man had was a “Definite Purpose.” This is your main goal, what you want to accomplish in your lifetime. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Andrew Carnegie Hall had a definite purpose.

The book was written during the Great Depression which was one of the hardest times for the country. It was a time where most people struggled financially and many lost everything. What a lot of people don’t know is that few people became millionaires during this time. They didn’t let the circumstances affect them. They had a big WHY and a definite purpose.

A Big WHY!

A Big WHY in 2021

If 2020 taught us anything it is that life is life and it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Circumstances can change very quickly. Life can either shine you up or grind you up. Don’t let the things you can’t control stop you from controlling the things you can. Two things that you have complete control over are your Attitude and Effort. If you don’t have a big WHY you will crumble at the first sign of adversity. A big WHY will push you and keep you focused on working on your plan.

Hill begins Think and Grow Rich with the first step which is Desire. He says, “Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and cut all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a burning desire to win, essential to success.” Here he is talking about your WHY. I ask you again, “What is your WHY in 2021?”

Let’s Do Something Special In 2021!

Go Find It

Do you know your definite purpose? If not, go find one. If so, go find that burning desire to achieve your definite purpose. It is only by knowing what you want to accomplish and desiring immensely to succeed that you will bring about change. Find your WHY and you can be a different person this time next year.

If I held your head underwater your definite purpose would be to breathe. Quickly, you would develop a burning desire to fill your lungs with air. You would develop a big emotional WHY; you want to live. Develop the same burning desire to achieve your goals as you had for air. Fight for your goals as you would fight for air. If you do this, nothing can stop you.

A New You

The question remains, “What do you want to accomplish this year?” Do you want to be living a different lifestyle this time next year? If so, “What is your WHY in 2021?” Find your definite purpose and develop a burning desire to achieve it. Get started today.

2021 A New Beginning

In my first post of this new year, 2021 a new beginning, I want to talk about taking everything we did at the end of December and utilize it in 2021. If you haven’t read my posts from December then I will encourage you to go back and read them. I talked about words you need to replace in your vocabulary, setting goals, and doing a self-analysis.

Techniques To Help You Start The Year Off Right!!!

2021 A New Start

For me, 2020 was a great year despite everything that went on in the world. Today I’m a different person than I was this time last year. I am excited about the new beginning 2021 brings. The possibilities are endless and the choice is yours on what you want to do with the next 365 days. I am set up better for 2021 because of everything I did at the end of 2020.

You can decide today how your life is going to be like a year from now. You just need to make the decision to change. The decision is not enough though. The most important part of making any decision is to make a commitment to that decision. Your commitment will get you through difficult times.

2021 New Year’s Resolutions

Many people make New Year’s resolutions during this time. I have never made New Year’s resolutions. Most New Year’s resolutions made by people only last about two weeks. By January 15th they have already quit on them. The reason is that they never committed to their resolutions.

Let’s take the gym for example. Before COVID, you could find me in the gym almost every morning. Many people make a resolution to lose weight and at the beginning of January and the gym becomes very crowded. Normally, I could go through my workouts without any interference but not at the beginning of January. I don’t like the crowds but I only have to put up with them for the first two weeks. By then, most people have quit because it got too hard and they didn’t commit.

Begin Today

Now that we’re in 2021 don’t be like most people. Begin today working on a new you. Start carving out the life that you want to live and stop listening to the opinion of others. Read your goals and begin working on your plan. I’m a better person today because of the decision I made last year and the commitment I made to that decision. It wasn’t easy and in fact, it was very hard at times. Stretching my comfort zone was difficult and I wanted to quit several times.

I just kept working on my plan, even on days that I didn’t want to. I kept speaking what I wanted and not what I had. Celebrating the small victories was a big help. I made productive use of each day and always moved forward. Some days I made giant leaps and others, small steps. When I fell I always fell forward. The most important thing I did was persevere by focusing on the WHY.

Let’s Form A Team In 2021

Let’s Go Do It

Let’s go make 2021 your year! You’ve made your decision and committed to that decision. Your goals are set and you have a solid plan. You have a WHY that is big and emotional. Hopefully, it scares you. You know nothing’s going to get in your way and you will overcome all obstacles. Persevere and NEVER QUIT!
