The Motivation To Succeed – Ep 17

Join My Team!

Welcome to my podcast, The Motivation To Succeed – Ep 17. If you are a follower of my blogs or follow me on social media then you know that the WHY is the most important thing to me when taking on any challenge. The WHY is what gets you out of bed in the morning, it gives you the courage to face even the greatest challenge, and it is the one thing that will keep you going when you want to quit.

The Motivation To Succeed

Is your reason, your WHY, big enough? Are you where you want to be in life? If not, are you at least heading in the right direction? Do you have dreams, goals, or a plan? I can give you all the tools to get you everything you want out of life. The one thing I cannot give you is a WHY. Your WHY is personal. It is your motivation to succeed.

My WHY won’t get you out of bed in the morning or keep you going when things get hard. Your WHY will. I was having this discussion with my daughters the other day, and I told them that I could give them everything they needed to be successful in whatever they wanted to do. I just couldn’t or wouldn’t do it for them. They would have to do that for themselves, whether they succeeded or failed was up to them.

No Regrets

When I’m on my deathbed, I will look at my family and know I have done everything possible for them to succeed. I will have no regrets because I will know I have done everything I could do during my time on earth to help as many people as I could.

If you’ve read any of my past blogs you know that I’m not in my 20s, not particularly skilled at writing, and pretty much out of my comfort zone dealing with anything that has to do with computers or the Internet. This is new to me and I’ve taken it upon myself to educate myself.

I read the blogs that I follow and they teach me something new every day. The terminology is different and I’m constantly having to look up words and phrases I’ve never used before. Computer code and analytics are foreign to me. I just keep hacking away until I get it right, it’s a slow process. Building any kind of business can take time and you can’t worry if things are not happening fast enough.

Never Quit

Do you have the motivation to succeed? As long as you don’t quit, eventually, you will be successful. Just concentrate on your WHY and don’t worry about the time. Success does not wear a watch.

Inspiring People Whom I Admire Part IV

This is a continuation of the series, Inspiring People Whom I Admire Part IV. I want to create a group of people who have different traits that I admire. Within this imaginary group, I would love to sit down and talk to each one of them. I added the inspirational Kalpana Chawla to this group in my post, Inspiring People Whom I Admire Part III.

Join My Team!

I began researching people from the World War II era. There are a lot of stories of heroic men but the heroic women of World War II are commonly forgotten. I did find stories about a few women and was going to include all of them in one post. Then I ran across a story about Irena Sendler and her story was so compelling that I want to dedicate this post to her memory.

Inspiring People Whom I Admire Part IV – Irena Sendler

She was born Irena Krzyzanowska on 2/15/1910 in Warsaw, Poland, and grew up in the town of Otwock, Poland. When the Nazis invaded Warsaw in 1939, she began feeding and sheltering Jews. After the Warsaw Ghetto was erected in 1940, she could no longer help the Jews that were isolated inside. The Warsaw Ghetto was the size of New York City’s Central Park and 450,000 Jewish people were forced into the area. Irena then began saving orphan children.

Irena Sendler

Zegota

In order to enter the Warsaw Ghetto, Irena used papers as a Polish social worker she had gotten from a member of Zegota. Zegota was a Polish underground group that assisted Jewish people. Additionally, She also had papers from a worker of the Contagious Disease Department.

Irena and helpers made over 3000 false documents to help Jewish families before she joined Zegota. After joining, She eventually became in charge of the children’s division of Zegota. During the Nazi occupation, she rescued 2500 Jewish children in Poland. She made sure that every family she placed a child with, had to agree that they would return the child to their family after the war.

Methods Used

Irena and 10 others would enter the Warsaw Ghetto and smuggle out children using the following methods:

1. Using an ambulance and hiding a child underneath the stretcher.

2. Escaping through the Courthouse.

3. Using sewer pipes or other secret underground passages.

4. A trolley could carry a child in a sack, trunk, or suitcase.

5. They would have the child pretend to be sick or sometimes would actually be sick and it was legal to remove them via ambulance.

Sentenced To Death

Irena was arrested on October 20, 1943. She was taken to the notorious Piawiak Prison where she was questioned and tortured. Consequently, her legs and feet were fractured during these torture sessions. The Nazis sentenced her to death and she was to be shot.

Unbeknownst to her, Zegota had bribed the German executioner who helped her escape. After she escaped, the Germans loudly proclaimed her execution and put up posters all around Warsaw stating that she had been shot. Irena actually saw and read the posters. For the remainder of the war, she remained hidden.

Finding The Children

Irena was the only one who knew the location of the children she had saved. She had written down their names and locations on tissue paper and buried them in jars. After the war, she located and dug up each one. Afterward, she began the arduous task of finding the children and locating a living parent. Unfortunately, almost all the parents died while being interned at the Treblinka death camp.

Life In A Jar

In 1999, four students began looking for information on Irena Sendler as a National History Day Project. They wrote a play titled, “Life in a Jar,” and began performing it wherever they could. From this play sprung, “Life in a Jar: The Irena Sendler Project” to get the word out of her heroic efforts. Her story was virtually unknown worldwide until they started performing the play. Even in her own country of Poland communism had buried her story.

On May 12, 2008, Irena Sendler died at the age of 98 in Warsaw Poland. Many of the children she rescued continue to tell her story. Her story was immortalized in the book, “Life in a Jar” by Jack Mayer. The book has been made into a film and the play continues to be performed today. There is even an Irena Sendler Exhibit in Fort Scott, Kansas. You can find more information on irenasendler.org.

Stepping Outside Your Comfort Zone

As humans, we gravitate towards comfort, we like to be in situations that make us feel good. Sometimes, we will forget about the bad things going on in our life so that we can remain feeling comfortable. Those bad things, no matter what they are, must be locked in a closet so that we can pretend our lives are comfortable.

It is called a comfort zone for a reason because it is a warm and fuzzy place that makes us feel good. When we have things such as mounting debt, are involved in a toxic relationship, or are fighting an addiction, those things can be painful for a short period of time. We then have to forget about them to get back to our comfort zone.

Moving Forward

In order to move forward, we have to make the uncomfortable comfortable. That means we have to face the demons in our lives and defeat them. We have to make a decision to change the things in our lives that have got us to where we are now and accept that we are worthy and deserving of a better life.

If you are doing the same daily routine, whether it’s working or not, it becomes your comfort zone. If you want to change your situation, you have to leave that comfort zone and venture out to places you’re not familiar with.

The Jungle

The jungle is a place where the vegetation is so thick that you literally can’t see someone standing five feet away from you. When we were walking through the jungle it was comfortable to walk on a path. Many times though, the paths didn’t lead to our destination and we would have to cut our way through the jungle to get there. This was uncomfortable, slow, and painful but we eventually arrived. The more we had to do this, the more comfortable and routine it became.

When you venture out of your comfort zone, at first it can be frightening, but eventually, your new routine becomes comfortable. You know your destination and you don’t care whether your new routine is showing results or not. If you believe in your heart that what you’re doing is the right thing for you and the results will come.

Law Of Attraction Quotes

Who are you when no one is watching? They say that great people become great behind the scenes. Their greatness is made when no one is watching. These Law of Attraction quotes will help you to say and do the right things every day even when no one’s around. Understanding the Law of Attraction will significantly change your life.

A man is but the product of his thoughts. What he thinks he becomes.
~ Gandhi

You can have, do or be anything you want.

Quotes on The Law Of Attraction

One of my favorite stories to illustrate this point is an interview with Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young. Steve said that the day after they won the Super Bowl he went to the stadium early in the morning to clean out his locker. He didn’t think anyone would be at the facility but as he was leaving he noticed some movement out on the field. He walked down to the field and looked out. To his disbelief, there was Jerry Rice, the Super Bowl MVP, running wind sprints. Most players took time off to recover from the grueling season and celebrate their championship. Not Jerry, he had already begun training for the next season by himself. That’s what made him one of the greatest players of all time.

We do not need magic to transform our world. We carry all of the power we need inside ourselves already.
~ J. K. Rowling

Here’s the problem. Most people are thinking about what they don’t want, and they’re wondering why it shows up over and over again.
~ John Assaraf

Your Words

What are you saying to yourself when no one’s around? What thoughts go through your head? There’s a fine line between the words you’re saying and the thoughts that you are having. You must make sure that your thoughts and words are in alignment. Sometimes we say positive words but think the opposite. The Law of Attraction says that we will attract exactly what we are thinking about. Our words become our thoughts and our thoughts become our actions. It is through these actions that we acquire change.

Each of us speaks 20,000 words a day. Therefore, we must be speaking the right words. Have you ever listened to what you are saying? What is your response to someone who asks, “How are you?” Do you respond with how you are feeling or how you want to feel? Is your response negative or positive? A negative response is, “I’m not feeling very well, I think I’m coming down with something.” A positive response is, “I’m feeling good today.” I always have the same response no matter how I feel. My response is always, “Great!”

I am the master of my own destiny, so I choose greatness and nothing less.
~ Chiara Gizzi

Every thought we think is creating our future.
~ Louise L. Hay

Focus On The Future

When you say something, whether it be to someone or you just think it to yourself, always say what you want. Think about what you are saying and make sure that you are not inadvertently attracting something that you don’t want. Your words should not be based on your current situation but on how you want to be in the future. Analyze your words and make sure that you are not telling people what your current reality is. Tell them what your future reality will be.

It is very common when people began speaking positive affirmations that they focus on their current situation. Because we all have a lack of belief in the beginning, our thoughts will be different than the words we are speaking. You can be saying, “I am wealthy,” but as you are saying it you are thinking about all the bills that you have. Your predominant thought is of debt and not wealth. That is what you will attract. By consistently practicing positive affirmations every day you will eventually change your predominant thought to wealth. Your belief will grow as your thoughts come in line with your words.

The Law of Attraction states that whatever you focus on, think about, read about, and talk about intensely, you’re going to attract more of into your life.
~ Jack Canfield

You already have within you everything you need to turn your dreams into reality.
~ Wallace D. Wattles

The Law Of Attraction

The Law of Attraction simply states that you attract whatever it is you think. Our thoughts from the past have created our reality of today. Our thoughts today will create our reality in the future. I don’t like it when people who teach the Law of Attraction referred to it as “magical” or “woo woo.” There is nothing magical about it. You will not manifest piles of money just by saying and thinking you have piles of money. Your words and thoughts will lead to actions. Action = change.

If you want to change your situation you cannot do it through words or thoughts alone. Without action, nothing is gonna happen. It is through your actions that you will manifest your new reality. Your words and thoughts can lead you to meet someone who could change your life. But, if you don’t talk to that person or do what the person recommends, nothing will change. You have to put everything into action.

Once you replace negative thoughts with positive ones, you’ll start having positive results.
~ Willie Nelson

Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life’s coming attractions.
~ Albert Einstein

Alignment

So think about that question, “Who are you when no one’s watching?” People tend to say the right things in the right company. What are you saying when you are alone? What are you thinking throughout the day? Make sure that your words and your thoughts are in alignment. If not you could be inadvertently sabotaging your Law of Attraction. Once everything’s in alignment, make sure that you are putting in the work to become the person you want to be. Go out and get the lifestyle you want to have.

Look forward to where you want to be and spend no time complaining about where you are.
~ Esther Hicks

The Power Of Gratitude Journaling -Ep 15

Yesterday was just that, yesterday. It is gone, finito, kaput, never to come back. It is in the past and considered history. There’s nothing I can do about what happened yesterday. Yesterday was not one of my better days. For whatever reason, I didn’t have energy and my mind was not as sharp as it usually is. I couldn’t focus on the things I wanted to accomplish. No matter what I tried, caffeine, energy foods, and supplements, I just felt like I wanted to go back to sleep and my brain was in a fog.

As I crawled into bed at the end of the day, feeling like I had not made any progress towards my goals, I gave thanks. I was thankful that I was given that day. Thankful that I got to spend time with my family, and thankful for everything I did have. There was nothing I could do about that day except to give thanks for being given that day and what I had in my life. When I woke up this morning, the first thing I did was give thanks for all the things I have, and all the things I will have in the future.

My Morning Routine

I do the same things every morning which begins my day in a grateful mood. I get out of bed when my eyes open, which is somewhere between 3 AM and 5 AM. Once I’m awake, I swing my legs out of bed, sit up, and give thanks for everything that I have. I navigate my way in the dark to the kitchen, giving thanks as I walk. Next, I drink 24 ounces of water and sit down in front of a writing pad and a pen. I then write down 10 things I am grateful for. After that, I send out love from my heart to three people whom, for whatever reason, I don’t particularly get along with. I then say a prayer to my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It is a prayer of thankfulness for my past, present, and future. Finally, I meditate and visualize my future.

Afterward, I go for a walk enjoying the coolness of the air, the darkness, and the beautiful bright stars and planets in the sky. While I’m walking I’m thinking about positive ideas and how happy I am. I return home and begin my exercise regimen of the day. During my walk and work out, while I’m breathing heavy and feeling the sweat rolling down my face, I have thoughts and ideas that flood into my brain. These are the inspirations that I sit down and write about. I then pour me a cup of coffee and begin my day.

Being Grateful

It’s difficult to measure success. For me, the easiest way to measure success is in gratitude. Being thankful for what you do have. This is why I begin every day by journaling the things that I’m grateful for. It begins my day in the right frame of mind to be successful and to face every challenge and obstacle that’s placed in front of me.

What is it that you are thankful for? I encourage everyone to sit down, get a gratitude journal, and list those things that you have in your life that make you feel grateful. If you have something in particular that you are thankful for and would like to share, please comment below. I would love to read them. Always remember that whatever happened yesterday you cannot change. Whether it was a good day, a great day, a bad day, or a terrible day, it is gone, never to return. Today is a new day, be thankful for what you have.

Quotes On Celebrating Small Victories

Welcome back. In today’s post, I want to give you guys some quotes on celebrating small victories and discuss their importance.

Join The Team!

Look for small victories and build on that. Each small victory, even if it is just getting up five minutes earlier, gives you confidence. You realize that these little victories make you feel great, and you keep going. You realize that being paralyzed by fear of failure is worse than failure.
 ~ Arnold Schwarzenegger

Small Victories

At the end of every post, I always add my saying, “This train is moving on. You can get on, you can get off, but the train keeps moving on. We are going to the top of the mountain! That saying came about one day when a friend of my daughter’s and I were discussing her modeling business. She told me the worst thing about her business was when people would leave negative comments. When she told me this, the Train statement instantaneously came out of my mouth. She replied that it was so inspiring and she would remember it.

I like the statement because it summed up my approach to life. I don’t listen to the doubters or negativity. My business is like a train and will make it to the top of the mountain and be successful. You can jump on the train with me or you can get off at any point, but nothing stops the train from moving on.

Success is rarely the result of one swell swoop, but more often the culmination of many, many small victories.
 ~ Joseph M. Marshall III

Your Goals

Even though we’re going to the top of the mountain, we don’t have to wait until we get there to celebrate. This is the same for your journey. A journey is not worth taking if you’re not enjoying the process. In your journey, you set a goal of where you want to go. You should also be setting smaller goals to help you achieve your overall goal. Celebrate every small success that you have along the way.

It is important to focus on your successes, they will help you to silence your “Doubt Demons.” Everyone has had success in their life. You might not think so but you have. If you’ve learned to walk and talk, that is a success. Just being able to move around can be a victory for some people. If you ever got a good grade in school then you have succeeded at something. Earning your first dollar is a success. Celebrate every small victory.

Success is a collection of small victories & disappointing setbacks. Understand the process, stay positive, & focus on the fundamentals.
~ Bradford Winters

Negativity All Around

As humans, we tend to focus on the negative before we see the positive. Whenever you ask someone, “how are you doing?”, have you had them immediately reply with everything that’s wrong with them? This happens to me the majority of the time. It is very rare for me to hear somebody reply, “I’m doing great!”

We are inundated with negativity daily. A few years ago I stopped watching the news because of all the negativity that was constantly bombarding my mind. If a natural disaster happens, all we are shown is the destruction that has been caused. Living in Florida we get our fair share of hurricanes. After they have passed, we are only shown the damage left in its wake.

What we don’t see are the positive events that take place. The lines of trucks from electrical companies all over the country who come to help restore our power. The outpouring of kindness from neighbors helping each other. These are the things that rarely become news stories. Because of this inundation of negativity, we overlook all of our small victories.

With every job I’ve gotten, I’ve bought myself something. When ‘Glee’ was picked up, I rented a piano for the year. For smaller victories, I’ll go to dinner with a friend, or go for a walk and think about it all. It’s important to say to yourself, Today was a good day.
~ Dianna Agron

Not My Best Decision

To illustrate how celebrating small victories can help us achieve our overall goals let me tell you a little story. When I was in my prime I used to run often for exercise. I would run 2 to 3 miles almost every day. Not a lot but enough to keep me in shape. One day, my partner at work told me that we should enter a half-marathon race that was coming up in a couple of weeks. My reply was, “I’ve never run anywhere near that distance before and I’m not in that kind of shape.” He said we would go very slow and run with his 11-year-old daughter in the back of the pack. Reluctantly, I agreed. (Big mistake…..Big, big, big, mistake.)

My goal was just to finish the 13.1 miles. We had agreed that we would run a pace of between 9 and 10 minutes a mile. My first clue that this wasn’t going to turn out well was when we gathered at the starting line. I didn’t see his daughter and he told me that she couldn’t make it. Would he have lied to me just to get me to run? Yes, yes he would. The gun went off and the race began. When we approached the one-mile point, I was given my second clue on how bad my day was going to be. As we crossed in front of the timer, he yelled out 7:10. That was a lot faster than we had planned to run and I knew I had just expended a lot of my energy.

The great victory, which appears so simple today, was the result of a series of small victories that went unnoticed.
~ Paulo Coelho

You Won’t Like Me When I’m Angry

After about five miles, I began to struggle and we agreed that after every mile we would walk a little bit and then continue running. At six miles, we walked for about 30 seconds and then continued running. We continued this plan with our walk time increasing with every mile. At the 10 mile point, I believe that my partner could feel the homicidal rage building inside me because that was the last I saw of him that day. Now I was all alone in the middle of nowhere with three more miles to run.

The only thing I could do was to pick out an object in the distance and make it my goal to run there. Putting one foot in front of the other I would struggle but eventually, make it. I would celebrate that small victory and pick out another object. At first, the objects were as far as I could see but after 12 miles I was struggling so much that they became closer and closer. Even though they were only 50 yards apart by the end of the race, I still celebrated making it to each one.

Acknowledge all of your small victories. They will eventually add up to something great.
~ Kara Goucher

Celebrate small victories often. Mourn failures quickly. Do what’s necessary without fanfare.
~ Chris Brogan

Celebrating Those Tiny Successes

Eventually, I turned a corner and saw the beautiful sight of the finish line banner. I hardly had enough strength to stand up or peel a banana. After drinking copious amounts of water, I sat in my car for about an hour before I felt I could drive. Even though I was hurting, I felt great inside because I had accomplished my goal of finishing the race. (Then I went home and stayed on the sofa for the rest of the weekend, not able to move).

Without celebrating those small victories I would’ve never made it to the finish line. I would have quit and laid down at the side of the road. Eventually, someone would have found my corpse. So remember to always enjoy your journey and focus on your successes, big or small. Utilize these quotes on celebrating small victories to keep you going. Dream big and keep achieving your goals.

I am a series of small victories and large defeats and I am as amazed as any other that I have gotten from there to here.
~ Charles Bukowski

Progress is the sum of small victories won by individual human beings.

What if this is it? What if your life, right now, is as good as it’s going to get? How does that make you feel? For me, it would not make me feel particularly good. You see, I’m in my 60th year on this rock, retired, and what I would consider successful. So I could sit back and enjoy my remaining days in relative comfort. I could read some good books, fish more, and enjoy a glass of scotch every now and then.

That won’t happen because I still have the drive. I love to be challenged, I love to be uncomfortable and to push myself to be better. The song, Walk by the Foo Fighters sums it up for me. I’m always “learning to walk again.” When one chapter in my life closes, I have to open up another and start from scratch to learn something new. I have to learn how to live life over again. “I don’t ever want to die,” is a great line from the song. Life is about the journey and as long as you continue your journey, you’ll never die while you’re living.

What Do You Want?

Do you want more out of life or is this it for you? Are you satisfied with where you are today in life or do you want to make a change? Are you willing to take on something outside of your comfort zone? Is putting up with some physical or mental discomfort too much for you?

When you see successful people, do you think that they are different than you and that’s why they are successful? They’re not. They’re just people like you and me. They had a dream, set a goal, made a plan, and worked their plan. Whenever they would run into roadblocks, they just adjusted their plan, they didn’t change the dream. If you’re not happy with your life as it is today then, change it.

Several months ago when I started my blog I wrote a post titled, It’s Not About Me, It’s About You. The purpose of that post was to say to become successful we need to serve others. Some people need the gifts that you have. People need to read the content that you’re writing. It might make them smile, be the bit of inspiration they’re looking for, or provide some information that helps them out. Taking your eyes off yourself and helping others will help you persevere. People are counting on you.

“I think self-knowledge is a key to happiness. We can build happy lives only on the foundation of our own natures, our own values and our own interests.” – Gretchen Rubin

Quotes On Focusing On Yourself

Now I’m going to switch it up a little bit. I want you to focus on yourself. The reason for this is, you can’t fully serve someone else if you don’t completely like the person you are. Your priority is to fix yourself and be happy with who you are. I believe we are all good people deep down inside. We are all different people so don’t compare yourself with others. There is no comparison to you.

“The only one you should compare yourself to is you. Your mission is to become better today than you were yesterday. You do that by focusing on what you can do today to improve and grow.” – John Maxwell

How many of you have watched a commercial and wanted to be like the “perfect” people in the ad? Advertisers use these “perfect” people because they want you to compare yourself with them. By doing so, you feel inferior and want to do something about it. Therefore, you spend money on their products to become the person in the advertisement. That’s just not going to happen.

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.” – George Bernard Shaw

“Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that’s real power.” – Clint Eastwood

You Are Unique

You can’t compare yourself with anyone because you are unique. Take a moment and look at your fingerprints. No one has the same fingerprints as you. Even though there are 7.8 billion people in the world, no two people have the same fingerprints. Our bodies are made up of DNA and these genetic markers are responsible for you looking the way you do. Our DNA comes from the beginning of time. Your unique DNA is a mixture of everyone in your bloodline. According to my DNA results, I am 1.64% Nigerian. This comes from one of my ancestors who lived approximately 50,000 years ago.

“Stop feeling sorry for yourself and you will be happy.” – Stephen Fry

“Knowing others is wisdom, knowing yourself is Enlightenment.” – Lao Tzu

I was one of those people who always compared himself to others and wanted to be one of these “perfect” people. I never liked my body type even when I was in perfect shape. My looks were something I always wanted to change despite the compliments that I was given. One of the things that I despised was my voice. I put off starting a podcast for this very same reason. The other day I had a fellow blogger comment that she enjoyed listening to my voice on my podcasts. We just don’t see ourselves or hear ourselves as others do.

“Your life is the fruit of your own doing. You have no one to blame but yourself.” – Joseph Campbell

Fall In Love

Today, go ahead and look in the mirror because I want you to fall in love with the person that you see. The person looking back at you is the “perfect” person because they are the best they can be at that time. You can’t fully serve others or attract others if you don’t like the person that you are. Once you begin to love yourself, you will begin to attract more people to you. There is an old saying, “If you want to fix the world, begin by fixing you.”

“The more you are like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique.” – Walt Disney

You Are Beautiful

You are a beautiful person just the way you are today. We are all created for greatness no matter your size, facial features, or your muscle tone. If you want to change something about yourself to better your health, give you more confidence, or whatever reason, I say, go do it. But first, fall in love with the original you. If you’re not in love with the way you were created, you will always be looking for flaws. When you fix one thing another flaw will come to your attention. You will always be chasing perfection because you never loved the original you.

“It isn’t the mountains ahead to climb that wear you out; it’s the pebble in your shoe.” – Muhammad Ali

Positive Affirmations

So how can you begin to love the person that you are right now, today? Well, your perception of who you are today is based on your words and thoughts of the past. Since the invention of television, we have been subjected to years of being told we are inferior. So you have to change those thoughts in the way you see yourself. Start today by looking in the mirror and telling yourself, “I love you.” Here are some positive affirmations to help you.

  • I love myself

  • I am joyous, happy, and free

  • I am my own person

  • I am totally healthy

  • I am willing to release the thoughts in me that created these conditions

  • I deserve the best and accept it now

  • I am in the process of positive change

  • I appreciate everything that I do

  • I approve of myself the way that I am

  • I experience love and kindness wherever I go

These are a few examples, I encourage you to change them and come up with new ones to fit you. By repeating these several times a day, over time you will notice a change in the way you look, feel, and act.

You can find several books on positive affirmations. One that I just finished and can recommend is You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hay. It is a wonderful book about changing your life through positive affirmations. I have added a link to the book on the side or bottom of my webpage.

“You, yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection.”
– Buddha

Making Good Choices – Ep 13

We have choices to make every day. Do we get out of bed now or do we roll over and go back to sleep? Do we pick up our phone as soon as we wake up or look at it later? What are we going to wear? What are we going to have for breakfast? We are inundated with choices that we have to make every day. In my blog titled, Anxiety (COVID-19), I wrote about the current situation that we are facing today and how that has created choices. We have a choice between faith and fear. I will always choose faith over fear.

Habits

The first step to making a decision to change is simple, you have to look inside yourself. Write down everything that you do on a normal day. The next day, read what you have written down. These are the habits that have gotten you to where you are now in life. If that’s where you want to be and you are happy, then continue doing these things.

If you are not where you want to be in life and want more out of it, then you have to change these habits. My advice, if you’re looking for a place to start, is to read or listen to books about the habits of people you would consider successful. Stephen Covey’s The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People is a great book to start with. Successful people become successful not out of luck, but through their daily habits. If you want more out of life, ask yourself if you are willing to change. If the answer is yes, then there is no better time to start than now.
