How To Remove Negative Thoughts

As I was on my morning walk this beautiful, wonderful day, I was reminded by the garbage cans on the street that today is garbage day. In my neighborhood, they pick up the garbage on Wednesday and Saturday morning. I never put my cans out on Wednesday simply because we don’t accumulate enough garbage.

This got me thinking that garbage day is a metaphor for our lives. We have so much negative garbage in our minds that we need to put it in a can, take it to the streets, and let somebody take it away. Most of my neighbors have so much garbage that they have to put out two cans twice a week. If you have negative thoughts, you need to be taking it out to the street every day. Just like real garbage, I have very little negative which is why I don’t have to take it out to the street very often.

Toss Negative Thoughts In The Can

I have replaced all my garbage with positive thoughts. If I have negative thoughts, or the Doubt Demons creep in, then I immediately throw it in the garbage and take it to the streets. If I run into a negative person while I’m out and about, I immediately toss what they’re saying in the garbage and replace it with positive thoughts.

You can play a little game with this and every time you have something negative in your life walk to the garbage can, lift up the lid, and toss the negative into your garbage can. Begin thinking positive thoughts and on garbage day, roll your can to the street and your negative will be taken away with your actual garbage.

You Deserve It All

Everything in life can be yours. You are one-of-a-kind and can and will be whatever you desire to become.  The reason you don’t believe that you have it right now is because of the words you’re saying and the thoughts that are in your mind. In order to change, you have to look inside you. You have to look at the person who’s looking back at you in the mirror and say I deserve everything I’m asking for.

This can all be explained by the Law of Attraction. You have something to give to the world and if you’re not happy, then you can’t give out that gift. A great exercise is to write down the things you do on a daily basis. These are your habits and habits can be changed. Write down what time you get up in the morning and what you do all throughout the day. Write down the good and the bad, all the way up until you go to bed. The next day read your list.

Change

These are all the things that got you to the point you are at today. If you’re not happy with that person or where you are in life, then you have to change some or maybe all of your habits. If you’re doing the same things over and over and over, you cannot expect different results. To be the person you deserve to be, change the person you are.

The Power Of The Unconscious Mind – Part II

In Part I, I talked about the unlimited power of the human mind. I recounted some amazing and inspirational stories of people overcoming severe medical situations only using their minds. Cathy Goodman was diagnosed with cancer and healed herself with her strong beliefs. Morris Goodman was paralyzed in an airplane crash yet walked out of the hospital. He wouldn’t accept that he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life. I hope you enjoy the Power of the Unconscious Mind – Part II.

The Power Of The Unconscious Mind – Part II

In the Power of the Unconscious Mind – Part II, I want to talk about how you limit your possibilities by holding onto negative energy. Remember that the human mind is limitless and we can do all things if we believe in our hearts. To put it simply, your thoughts become your actions and your actions become your reality. I am living proof of this.

I believe in positive affirmations. Positive affirmations and changing your thought process will change the person that you are. I know this works because I am a completely different person than I was even a few years ago. Two things were limiting me. First, I was putting a time limit on my change. If it wasn’t happening quickly enough, I would say it didn’t work. Second, I held onto a lot of negative energy.

Always Angry

I held a lot of anger inside me but I didn’t know where it came from. I had no reason to feel angry because I was living a very good life. Through many hours of retrospection, I finally realized where my anger was coming from. I lacked self-confidence which was a result of always feeling that I was unworthy. I never felt good enough and always felt everyone else was better than me.

Living in South Florida and having to drive an hour to Miami to work each morning did not help. If you’ve ever driven in South Florida you know what I mean. South Floridians drive very aggressively and don’t seem to care about anyone but themselves. They will cut in front of you and almost hit you without even a second thought. I arrived at my office every day with an angry disposition. In every situation I encountered, I immediately looked for the negative aspects. I was always thinking negatively.

Release The Beast

My anger carried on even after my retirement. I remember one day I realized I wasn’t happy and didn’t want to live the rest of my life like this. So I decided to release the negativity in my life. I asked God to take away my anger. When I did, I immediately became calmer and felt peace inside of me.

For the most part, I’m able to drive around without getting angry but……… there are times. Anger is hard to eliminate when you have to drive in South Florida. One particular incident happened not long ago and had me backsliding into my old ways.

power-unconscious-mind-2-truck-crash-wall
Sooo South Florida

South Florida Drivers

If you live in a normal state or part of the world, you might not understand this. Drivers in South Florida like to get in the passing or “fast” lane and drive very slow. They do not care and immediately go to the fast lane and plant themselves there for the duration of their trip. They will not move over for anything. Most of the time they are driving the speed limit or below. It got so bad that they had to pass a law and post a minimum speed you can drive on the interstate.

Frozen

My wife and I had been visiting our daughter who attends college in Orlando and we were coming home. We were driving south on Interstate 95 and I was in the middle lane. The driver to my left was approaching one of these slow drivers. Instead of looking in his mirror to see if the lane was clear he just changed lanes. Luckily, he saw me before he hit me and swerved back.

All that was fine, that’s just part of South Florida driving. What pushed the old nuclear anger button🤬 was he decided he would rather hit me than slow down for the car in front of him. With total disregard for anyone but himself, he came back into my lane and I had to hit my brakes to avoid a collision. That sent me into a tirade and the backsliding began.

My anger went on for several minutes. My wife who is described as beautiful and vivacious but also a fiery Latina sat there calmly. One of my favorite ways to describe my wife is she is funny. She always makes us laugh. So, in a very soothing voice, she said,

Scott, be like Frozen.

What? I said angrily.

“Let it goooo.” She said with a straight face. We began laughing and my anger disappeared.

Don’t Let It Hold You Back

The moral of the story is: Release your anger, it is just holding you back.

You should release your fears. Your fears are manifestations of your thoughts. Look into your eyes in a mirror and say, “I release all my fears, I am a strong confident person.” As I’ve said many times, I believe in faith over fear. My faith that I will succeed is stronger than my fear that I will fail. If you cannot eliminate your fears, you can still control them. Don’t let them control you. Step out of your comfort zone.

“I release all my fears and do not let them control me. My faith is my guiding light.”

Pride

Another limiting trait we should release is pride. Be proud of who you are and what you will accomplish. Don’t limit yourself by being prideful. Be humble and thankful in everything. Always treat others as you would want someone to treat you or your family.

“I release my pride. I am humbled and thankful in everything I do.”

Resentment

You must release resentment. Do not resent others for their success. Never compare yourself to other people. Always be happy for everyone and wish abundance for them. The success of other people is no reflection on you. Release your feelings of resentment and go be the best you.

I release the resentment I have for others. I wish abundance for everyone.”

No Limits

One of the most important things you can release is your limiting mindset. You must understand that you can have and be anything you want to be because the universe is unlimited. There is no competition. Don’t believe you have to compete for everything. There is more than enough for everyone. Don’t set limits on your thinking. Remember, your thoughts become your actions and your actions become your reality.

“I release the limits I place on myself. My mind is unlimited and I can have anything I want.”

Your reality of today is based on your past thoughts. Your future reality is based on the thoughts that you’re having today. So, dream big. Next year you can be a different person than you are today. You can be living a different lifestyle. My business motto is, “Helping You to Become The Person Others Want to Be.” Don’t go and try to be like a certain sports hero or actor. Go be the kind of person that they want to become.

Quitting Is Not An Option

The one thing we must never forget is that quitting is not an option. This is Episode 9 of my Podcast and it comes from my blog post titled, It’s Not About Me, It’s About You. You can’t give up because there are too many people who need to experience your gifts.

Join My Team!

Quitting Is Not An Option

You have so much to give the world. Each one of you was born with gifts inside of you. Everybody has something inside of them that can help someone else. I believe it’s your obligation to pass your gift to others. My gift is motivation. People have told me that I say the right things at the right time and have helped and inspired them. That’s why I started blogging.

If anyone has ever told you that you are good at something, that is your gift. We must continue spreading our gifts and never quit. When things get tough and you’re going through a difficult time, you have to find a way to reach down and fight through because someone, somewhere needs your gift. It’s not about you, it’s about them.

Keep Going, Never Give Up

I will continue to talk to as many people as I can until my last breath. When things aren’t going well, I’ll keep going. When I’m talking and it seems like no one’s listening, I’ll keep talking. I’ll never quit, it’s just not in me. It’s not in you either.

When you want to quit, get out of bed and go do it one more day. Do it the next day and the next until you’ve accomplished the mission. Everyone’s counting on you, so it’s your duty, your obligation to them to get it done. If you quit then you are letting down 7 .8 billion people. That’s a huge burden to have to live with the rest of your life.

Fight

Fight with all your being and when you feel you have nothing left in you, get up and take another swing. Whatever you do, never stop and keep moving forward. Quitting is not an option.

Life is hard and it will hit you in the teeth. It will take you to your knees. Anyone who has gone through life without any kind of struggles hasn’t lived. So when it hits you, hit back, keep hitting back, and keep moving forward. As long as you’re moving forward you’re winning, it doesn’t matter what the score is. There are too many people counting on you. It might hurt and it might be hard but you gotta keep moving forward. It’s not about you, it’s about them.

Warrior Mentality

The warrior mentality, that ability to fight, is in us all. It is there at birth. We are all fighters and a fighter is going to fight. A warrior won’t quit until they’ve won or died. Nothing can stop them. Nothing can stop you. Once you know what you want, go out and get it.

Don’t ever let anyone or anything stop you. You and only you are in control and determine whether you win or lose. You will have successes and you will have failures but you will never quit. Continue to fight and fight and fight until you win. It’s not about you, it’s about them.

80/20 Rule

The 80/20 rule says that 20 percent of the people do 80 percent of the work. I was one of the 20 percent. It was ingrained in me in the military to accomplish the mission, that was the most important thing. Whenever one of my bosses needed something difficult done, they called on me because I always accomplished the mission, no matter how hard. I persevered and wouldn’t quit.

Failure is not an option. You have been given a mission, whatever it may be and you have to do what it takes to accomplish that mission and never quit. It’s not about you, it’s about them.

The Power Of The Unconscious Mind

Our minds are very powerful instruments. It is said that we only utilize 10% of the power of our brains. Think about all the wonderful things man has accomplished with only 10%. Can you imagine the great things we would see if we could tap into the other 90%? Our minds are so powerful that they can store our every thought and emotion. Depending on your thoughts and emotions this can be seen as good or bad. Positive thoughts will lead to a wonderful life. On the other hand, negative thoughts and emotions can hold you back from living your dreams. The power of the unconscious mind is unlimited.

A man is a by-product of his thoughts what he thinks, he becomes.

Releasing The Negative

The power of the unconscious mind is only limited by your negative thoughts. Luckily, you can release the negative challenges you are having. There are countless benefits you will attain from releasing these negative thoughts and emotions. Some of the negative energy that you hold onto are:
Anger
Fear
Pride
Resentment
A Limiting Mindset
and more…..

How we fare in any given situation depends on the conduct of our body, speech, and mind. Since the mind is the chief, a disciplined mind is essential.
~ Dalai Lama XIV

Never underestimate the Power of the Mind. Persist in creating new thoughts to prevent falling back into negative patterns. It is an ongoing struggle and you have to commit to winning if you are to succeed.
~ Bob Proctor

The Power Of The Unconscious Mind

I’m currently reading a book titled, You Can Heal Your Life by Louise Hays that was recommended to me. This is an outstanding book by an accomplished author. Louise Hays believes in positive affirmations and beliefs. By repeating positive affirmations you can release the negative energy stored in your mind. She believes through a daily routine of repeating positive affirmations you can change your health. In her book, she states that you can heal diseases and chronic illnesses through positive affirmations.

Now, I am not 100% convinced that I could heal myself without medicine. I need to conduct more research on this phenomenon. I do know that your body reacts to the thoughts in your mind. If you believe you are going to die, no medicine can save you. I have read stories about people who have healed themselves utilizing only their thought process.

Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.
~ Abraham Lincoln

Any idea, plan, or purpose may be placed in the mind through repetition of thought.
~ Napoleon Hill

Medical Miracles

In the book, The Secret, Dr. John Hagelin, Quantum Physicist, talks about the power of our thoughts. He says, “Our body is the product of our thoughts. We are beginning to understand in medical science the degree to which the nature of thoughts and emotions determines the physical substance and structure and function of our bodies.”

I’m sure you’ve heard of the “placebo effect” and how the power of suggestion affects the outcome of experiments. When you take any type of medicine, you might not know exactly how the medicine works. You still take the medicine because you trust your doctor and believe the medicine will work. How much of your recovery is due to the medicine, and how much is due to your belief?

Believe it can be done. When you believe something can be done, really believe, your mind will find the ways to do it. Believing a solution paves the way to a solution.
~ David J. Schwartz

Convince your mind and you can do anything!
~ Avijeet Das

Cathy Goodman

I also read in, The Secret, about a woman named Cathy Goodman. Cathy Goodman was diagnosed with breast cancer. She truly believed in her heart, with her strong faith, that she was already healed. Every day she would say, “Thank you for my healing.” She believed she was healed and saw herself as if cancer were never in her body.

She would watch very funny movies to combat the stress in her life. She would sit with her husband and laugh. By laughing, she released all her negative energy. Laughter is the best medicine. She couldn’t afford to allow any negative thoughts into her mind while she was trying to heal herself. Cathy was completely healed three months after she was diagnosed. She did not go through any radiation or chemotherapy treatments.

Don’t limit yourself. Many people limit themselves to what they think they can do. You can go as far as your mind lets you. What you believe, remember, you can achieve.
~ Mary Kay Ash

Focused mind power is one of the strongest forces on earth.
~ Mark Victor Hansen

Morris Goodman

Another inspirational story I found in, The Secret is the story of The Miracle Man, Morris Goodman. On March 10, 1981, Morris was piloting an airplane when it developed engine trouble and crashed. His spinal cord was crushed and he was completely paralyzed. He broke the first and second cervical vertebrae, destroying his swallowing reflex. His diaphragm was destroyed and he couldn’t breathe.

All he could do was blink his eyes. The doctor said he would be a vegetable for the rest of his life. That was what the doctors thought, but that wasn’t what Morris thought. He pictured himself being a normal person again, walking out of that hospital. The only thing he had to work with was his mind.

Breathe

Morris kept thinking, over and over, “Breathe deeply.” He thought this day after day until he was finally weaned from the respirator. The doctors could not provide an explanation for what happened. He set a goal to walk out of the hospital on Christmas day. When Christmas arrived, that’s exactly what he did. He walked out of the hospital on his own two feet. Morris sums up his life with six words, “Man becomes what he thinks about.”

These are just a few stories that demonstrate the unlimited potential of the human mind. As it says in Philippians 4:13, “I can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens me.” It doesn’t say that you can do some things or a few things. It says that you can do ALL things. This quote alone shows the unlimited potential of your mind. All you have to do is believe in your heart and give thanks.

Recognizing Opportunities In Adversity

Do you feel that right now is a great time to be alive? Because I do. I feel so blessed every day to be able to experience everything that life offers on a daily basis. We are living through an unprecedented event, maybe not in history, but in my lifetime.

Join My Team

I used to watch movies such as The Andromeda Strain and The Omega Man in which an unknown virus began killing humans. COVID-19 has created vast changes in how we work and live. It has devastated small businesses and left millions unemployed. As each day passes we get closer to “flattening the curve” and it will be interesting to see what the world will look like once everything starts opening up.

Are You Recognizing The Opportunities In Adversity?

It is said that adversity creates opportunity. Many people took advantage of the opportunities created during the Great Depression and became millionaires. While many people suffered, others took advantage of being unemployed and turned ideas into businesses. They saw the opportunity created by the Great Depression. Can you see opportunity created by the current pandemic? It’s out there, opportunity is always out there, you just have to be able to see it. When you see it, you then have to act on it.

Your Fingertips

For all the youth out there, I just want to say that we are living in the greatest time in our history. You can carry around the world at your fingertips. Everything has sped up exponentially, from communication with other people to becoming wealthy. Today, we can walk around with a computer in our pocket, we can search for any question that we have, and communicate with anyone throughout the world

Creativity

All it takes is a little creativity and you can make money without ever having to spend a day working a job you probably hate. I never would’ve thought that you could make money by videotaping yourself doing something that you do for one day, but people do. The ease at which we can obtain information today presents the greatest opportunity for all of us. You can literally find a step-by-step process to do anything. If you want to learn how to write a blog, there are bloggers who write blogs on how to write a blog.

I’ve always heard people say, “I can’t wait till my ship comes in,” and you might want to write this down, “Your ship has arrived. It is anchored just offshore and all you have to do is swim out to it and get on board.”

Inspiring People Whom I Admire – Part 2

I began thinking about different people who I admired and have inspired me throughout my life. As a result, I decided to write about these inspirational people. They are people who overcame obstacles and were great leaders. I have learned great lessons from them. They have set excellent and inspirational examples for me to follow. To keep the blogs short, I have decided to do this in parts. I hope you enjoy Inspiring People Whom I Admire – Part 2.

Inspiring People Whom I Admire – Part 2

This will be part 2 of this series and I want to talk about Abraham Lincoln. Several years ago, I read a book titled Lincoln on Leadership by Donald T. Phillips. This is one of the best books on leadership that I have ever read. I have linked it to Amazon if you would like to pick it up. As I mentioned in Part 1, Ernest Shackleton, the author of Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill had an imaginary mastermind group. Abraham Lincoln was part of that group because of his incredible leadership skills.

“I am a slow walker, but I never walk back.”
 ~ Abraham Lincoln

Napoleon Hill created his mastermind group out of people who had the characteristics he admired. This series will cover different individuals who have inspired me. They all have the characteristics which I would like to emulate in my life. They are great leaders, overcame enormous obstacles, and set great examples. I always learn something by reading about them.

16th President

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, and grew up in poverty. With no formal schooling, he was self-educated. Eventually, he became a lawyer. There are many tales of Lincoln and his successes and failures before he became the 16th President of the United States.

“My concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

He inherited the nightmare of a Union which was severely divided, from President James Buchanan. Before he took the oath of office, seven states had already succeeded from the union to form the Confederate States of America. Buchanan had already given up hope of holding the country together. He did nothing at the end of his term to try to repair the division that was happening in this country. Congress also did nothing to defeat the growing rebellion.

“Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln was the country’s first Republican President. He was elected by a minority vote. Because he was an outsider, he was disliked in Washington. The media and the people saw him as a second-rate country lawyer. They thought he was ill-equipped and unable to handle the presidency. No one could predict the unparalleled strength of leadership he possessed.

Union Army

A Born Leader

Lincoln’s leadership traits:

  • He would get out and circulate among the troops.
  • Compassion.
  • Honesty and integrity are the best policies.
  • Courage to handle unjust criticism.
  • Consistency.
  • Decisiveness.
  • Being open-minded and flexible.
  • Setting goals and being results-oriented.
  • He believed that the organization takes on the personality of its top leader.

Lead From The Front

Lincoln believed in leading from the front. He was hardly ever in the oval office. If you wanted to find him you should start in the War Department. That’s where he spent most of his time. He would go to the field and circulate among the troops. He wanted to know what they were going through. This gave him first-hand knowledge to make accurate decisions. He went to the field to observe or take charge of several battle situations and even came under fire at least once.

“You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Compassion

To Lincoln, a leader shows compassion. The leader knows the job of his lowest subordinates and treats everyone the same. Lincoln spent many days visiting the hospitals and talking to the wounded. He spoke no differently to a private than he did to one of his generals.

“I want it said of me by those who knew me best, that I always plucked a thistle and planted a flower where I thought a flower would grow.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Honest

Lincoln believed that the best way to lead is with honesty and integrity. The government exists to elevate the condition of man. It is there to level the playing field and allow man to climb the ladder of success. He was not kind to politicians taking kickbacks. He fired many of his appointed cabinet members for lack of honesty and integrity.

“You can tell the greatness of a man by what makes him angry.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Courageous

Lincoln showed an amazing amount of courage over an extended period of time. He survived defeats in his life and also at the beginning of the Civil War. He took risks and never played it safe. The faith he had in himself was unmatched. He knew his decisions were the right ones and didn’t need to be told by others.

“Be sure you put your feet in the right place, then stand firm.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Overcame Criticism

Because of their position, Great leaders will be subjected to severe criticism from all sides. They will suffer attacks on their personal honor and character. Lincoln was no different. The media, the public, and the Union he was trying to save all criticized him. Southern sympathizers, members of Congress, and even some from within his own Republican Party verbally attacked him.

Lincoln didn’t allow the attacks to deter him from his definite purpose of saving the Union. In fact, he overcame all his critics to secure victory in the war. He not only preserved the nation but also reorganized the military and renewing the spirit of patriotism in America. Lincoln is best known for, The Emancipation Proclamation, abolishing slavery in the United States.

Confederate Soldiers

Consistency

Lincoln led with consistency in how he treated people and his interactions with cabinet members. He was very consistent with how he administered and managed the government. He did whatever it took to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

“Be with a leader when he is right, stay with him when he is still right, but leave him when he is wrong.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Decisive

Lincoln was decisive and bold in his decisions. Many of the decisions he made were not popular but he knew there were necessary for victory. The Union Army was undermanned at the beginning of the war. President Buchanan had decimated the military by cutting the budget. Lincoln knew that he would need a call for troops and enacted conscription.

His bold decision to direct a blockade of the Confederate states was necessary to cut off supplies. Probably his most unpopular decision was declaring martial law. He also suspended the writ of habeas corpus, giving the military the power to arrest without charges. Lincoln would not waiver on this decision because he felt it was necessary to protect against spies and traitors.

“I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Flexible

Lincoln was open-minded and flexible. He always listened to his subordinates. If their decisions were not what he had in mind, he would explain the shortcomings. But, if their ideas matched his, he would let them proceed as if it was their idea.

“You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

Goal Setter

Arguably his greatest leadership trait was setting goals and being results-oriented. Lincoln had always persevered and used his failures as lessons to learn from. He had the ability to turn certain defeat into a decisive victory. At the beginning of his presidency, Lincoln had one ultimate goal, preserving the United States of America.

“Tact: the ability to describe others as they see themselves.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

He Set The Example

Lincoln’s leadership is best summed up with one trait. Like all great leaders, Lincoln knew that the organization takes on the personality of its top leader. Lincoln displayed all of the traits listed above to determine his personality. By setting the example of a great leader, Lincoln led the Union to persevere and overcome great odds and securing victory.

“When I’m getting ready to reason with a man I spend one-third of my time thinking about myself and what I am going to say—and two-thirds thinking about him and what he is going to say.”
~ Abraham Lincoln

The Power Of Music

I was working out this morning and I always listen to music while I exercise. I have a playlist in my phone of several upbeat songs that keep my adrenaline flowing throughout my workout. Today as I started my workout, the first song that came on was, It’s My Life by Bon Jovi. I got this overwhelming joyous feeling in my heart because the words of the song matched perfectly with my life. My life changed dramatically yesterday in a very good way and took all the success I’ve had in the past to a whole different level. I’ve heard the song probably a thousand times before but today I really listened to the words.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx2u5uUu3DE

Right Now

The next random song that came on from my playlist was Right Now by Van Halen. I don’t think there are two songs in my playlist that would have had a better impact on me. It just confirmed that all these great things are happening to me right now. I need to make the most of every day.

Whenever I hear this song it takes me back to my days in the jungle. I used to carry a Sony Walkman cassette player and earphones as part of my equipment. We had open doors on the helicopters and I would always sit next to the door gunner. I would start playing this song right before the helicopter lifted off. Many times we would fly what the pilots call “nape of the earth” which is just a few feet above the ground.

I Feel Alive

They would fly right over the river and follow the curves at a very fast speed. It was exhilarating. When I hear the song I’m transported back inside the helicopter to a very happy time for me. We never knew what would happen when we arrived at our objective. Would it be an easy day or would they be waiting for us and we would have to fight our way out? I never felt more alive. Right Now makes me feel alive when I hear it and reminds me that right now is the time to get it done.

Whatever you want to accomplish starts right now. Don’t wait for the perfect day or time. Don’t wait for the pandemic to be over and COVID-19 to be wiped out.  Never wait for tomorrow or next week. Don’t wait until the end of the semester or when you get that big project finished at work. There is no better day than today, so go get it done. IT’S YOUR LIFE – go live it.

Follow Your Dream Inspirational Quotes

Imagine how your life would change if your annual income became your monthly income. What would your life look like? How would that change you as a person? Would you be able to live the lifestyle of your dreams? We all dream and we start when we are very young. Some people dream of buying a certain car, house, or boat. Others dream of travel and giving to help others. Dreaming doesn’t stop just because we get older. I’m 60 and I still dream. For me, dreams are possibilities. As long as I’m breathing I will continue to work to turn them into realities. These, follow your dream inspirational quotes, help me to accomplish just that.

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”
~ Anatole France

“If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.”
~ Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

Follow Your Dream Inspirational Quotes

Do you believe you could turn your annual income into your monthly income? I believe it can happen. Many people do just that. These are people who never gave up on their dreams. They never let anyone steal their dreams from them. Through hard work in developing the right mindset, they succeeded. They see things in terms of possibilities rather than obstacles. Failure is not an option and passion drives them. Perseverance is something they do on a daily basis.

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”
~ Alice Walker

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined.”
~ Henry David Thoreau

You begin dreaming when you’re young and naïve about the world. You believe that everything is possible. Children dream about what occupation they are going to have when they grow up. It seems the children are anxious to grow up. They are just reacting to the stimuli around them.

Children

Children incorporate their dreams into their play. They pretend to be the occupations of their parents or what they see on TV. Children dream about being heroes. They dress up and pretend that they are saving the world. Their dreams allow them to travel to outer space and faraway lands.

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”
~ George Eliot

“Dream big and dare to fail.”
~ Norman Vaughan

As you become older the dreams are still happening inside your mind. When you reach your teenage years you stop playing pretend. You think and dream about what you’re going to become in a few years. Only now, it’s more grounded in the realities of your current situation. Your dreams also stay with you. You keep them to yourselves because of fear of criticism. I love this, follow your dream inspirational quote, by Shonda Rhimes.

“Dreams are lovely. But they are just dreams. Fleeting, ephemeral, pretty. But dreams do not come true just because you dream them. It’s hard work that makes things happen. It’s hard work that creates change.”
~ Shonda Rhimes

What Happened?

Whatever happens to all our dreams we have when we are young? Most people never live out their dreams. Your dreams do not get up and leave on their own. You don’t accidentally leave them someplace never to be found again. Your dreams are stolen from you. You are told by parents, teachers, and others to quit daydreaming and pay attention. Don’t live with your head in the clouds.

“Limitations live only in our minds.  But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.”
~ Jamie Paolinetti

These words have a significant impact on you. They lead you to forget about the dreams you have and the life you want to lead. They steal your dreams. As you enter adulthood you might want to start a business. You dream of your office at the top of the building with your name on it. You see yourself running this large corporation.

The Reason, Not The Excuse

Don’t Let Life Stop You

What happened? Why didn’t you pursue it? Many times the answer is, life just got in the way. So you settle into your crummy job making somebody else lots of money. You don’t believe that it can truly happen. You are told many times that these are just dreams and they’re not real. Your mind believe that and turned it into a reality. That became your mindset.

When you get married and have children, you perpetuate this vicious cycle. Your parents stole your dreams and now you still your children’s dreams. They will in turn still their children’s dreams. This will continue until someone changes their mindset. You can break this cycle, hold onto your dream, and make it your reality.

“The path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it.”
~ Kalpana Chawla

“Our dreams are what truly matter, we only have one life and we should live it to the fullest.”
~ Madeline Stuart

Me

Me, I have done all of the above. It was a normal day for me growing up to be dreaming of space travel and saving the world. My parents and teachers told me continuously to stop daydreaming. I thought I was doing something wrong and in their eyes I was. I have lied to my children by telling them that they shouldn’t, “put all your eggs in one basket.” “Always have something to fall back on.” These are horrible suggestions.

Several of my dreams did come true and my life turned out much as I imagined. No, I didn’t become an astronaut, a superhero, or save the world. I did travel to foreign lands, have adventures, and solve mysteries. These were some of the things I dreamt about. These are pretty small dreams compared to others. For example, Elon Musk and SpaceX, or Walt Disney and Disneyland. I wonder if I had bigger dreams, would life have made me forget them?

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
~ Langston Hughes

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.”
~ James Dean

How?

Can you turn your annual income into your monthly income? I believe you can, many people do just that. Your life in the next couple of years can be completely different than the life you’re living today. How can you make that happen?

  • Never Stop Dreaming!
  • Turn your dream into your definite purpose.
  • Develop a passion for achieving your dream.
  • Develop a plan to make it happen.
  • Set your goals.
  • Work diligently.
  • Overcome all obstacles.
  • Embrace your failures.
  • Persevere.
  • Never Quit!

Walt Disney was a struggling filmmaker who was forced to file bankruptcy. That same year he formed a new film company with a loan from his family. He then created the iconic character, Mickey Mouse. Henry Ford filed for bankruptcy twice. He refused to allow this to deter him. On his third try, he created the Ford Motor Company.

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting”
~ Paulo Coelho

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
~ C. S. Lewis

These are just two examples of many successful people who did not let life get in the way. They never let anyone steal or give up on their dreams. If you have dreams you want to accomplish it is never too late. Never let your family be your excuse for not following your dream. Make them your reason to turn your dream into your reality. Start today and make them happen.

I Lost A Battle Yesterday

Before I get started telling you how I lost a battle yesterday, I wanted to thank everyone that reads, listens, and follows my site. I have just gone over 400 followers and I am very humbled by your support. My 400th follower was minutewithmelissa.com. She is a wonderful and talented writer that has definitely been blessed by God. I’ve added a link to her site, so go on over there and check it out.

I know I normally schedule my blogs and podcasts once a week, but I felt compelled to write this short post. I have a lot of people both in-person and on WordPress who tell me they frequently experience similar events in their life. Therefore, I wanted to share what happened and how I dealt with it.

The Battle Begins

I woke up at my usual time, around 4 a.m., and after completing my daily routine of meditation and prayer, I went out for a walk. I had a lot of energy and had a great workout. My day started like every other day, I was feeling very energetic and had planned to go film a short course on self-confidence that I’m putting together. My gear was packed and right before I was heading out, I noticed that I had rehearsed the wrong introduction.

lost-battle-film-crew
Filming My Course

Losing The Battle

That didn’t bother me, as I told myself I would just spend the day rehearsing and go film the next day. Around noon something very strange happened. I became extremely fatigued and felt like I wanted to go to sleep. There was no reason that I could think of for me to feel this way. I fought it off for a while and then quickly realized I was losing the battle, so I laid down and took a nap.

Three hours later, I woke up and still felt extremely tired. I couldn’t focus on anything and just felt like going back to sleep. As a result, I just laid in bed until dinner, and after dinner went back and lied down. I went to sleep at my normal time, around 9:30 or 10, after giving thanks for my day and the day to come.

Today

When I awoke today, I was still tired and stayed in bed until 7:00. As I was going through my morning routine, I realized what was happening. You see, I believe that we are constantly in a war between two opposing forces. Call it what you will, light versus darkness, Ying versus Yang, God versus Satan, it comes down to good versus evil. Whenever something good is about to happen in my life, I get hit with the negative forces. Things don’t go right, unexpected bills arrive, I can’t focus, etc.

It just happened again. My wife just came in and told me that she couldn’t get the garage door closed. Now, I have to spend time in this stifling heat trying to fix it and if I can’t, pay someone to repair it. They usually come in 3’s, so I’m waiting for one more. Let’s take bets on what that is going to be.

Work The Plan

Once I realized what’s happening, I knew how to combat it. Stick to my plan. I can control my plan and what I do today. I don’t waver from my plan or my daily goals. There are forces that don’t want me to complete my course. I know that my course will help people and these forces don’t want that to happen. Therefore they try to distract me from my definite purpose.

The things that are the hardest for me and I don’t look forward to doing are the things I need to do most. These are the things that are going to help me accomplish my goals. I look at it like eating. The foods I don’t look forward to eating (vegetables) are the foods I need to eat the most of. They are the foods that are best for my body. So the battle continues, the dark side pulling you towards that tasty doughnut, and the light side showing you the broccoli.

Great Things Are Happening

So whenever you find that negative things are going on in your life, it just means that great things are going to happen for you. Don’t get discouraged, just stick to your plan, go over your goals, and continue your positive affirmations.

Today I feel energetic and more like my old self. Yesterday the battle was won by my enemy but the war is not over. Bring it on!

P.S. I couldn’t fix my garage door, so out comes my checkbook. If you would like to help me out and you live in the U.S., I would appreciate it if you would click on my affiliate links and purchase something from Amazon. Every little bit helps. Thank you. 😊🙏

Stopping Your Negative Thoughts

Stopping your negative thoughts takes work. Success is based on work. If you’re not willing to do the work you’re probably not going to have very good results. It all begins in the mind though; you have a thought about something that you would like to accomplish. You have to change your thought process.

Episode 6 – Stopping Your Negative Thoughts

You start off with a dream about being wealthy or losing weight and having a different body. How about living in a mansion instead of your studio apartment that’s worse than the apartment you lived in at college? Now that you have this dream; How are you going to go about turning it into a reality? If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ll know that HOW is not really important. WHY is the most important part of the equation.

Feed Your Dreams

Dreams, like grass, need to be nourished and watered. If your irrigation system is adjusted correctly then most of the water lands on your yard and nourishes your lawn. The grass grows healthy and full, chokes out all the weeds, and you have this lush green lawn that’s the envy of the neighborhood.

If you water your dreams with positive thoughts then they will grow, flourish, and choke out those pesky “Doubt Demons”. On the other hand, if you’re watering the street your lawn suffers and nothing grows. Grass does not grow on asphalt. If you’re constantly giving into negative thoughts you might as well be watering the street because nothing is going to grow.

Positive Affirmations

Begin a daily habit of affirmations. Write them down on an index card and carry it with you always. The first thing in the morning, read them several times. Throughout the day pull out your index card and read them over and over. You need to program your positive thoughts into your subconscious.

Just like you adjust your sprinklers to only water the grass, adjust your positive thoughts to water your dreams. They say you have to do something 10,000 times before you get really good at it. I’m no scientist but maybe that’s how long it takes before your subconscious mind takes over and you start doing and saying the right things without thinking about it.
