~ Lance Armstrong

~ Michael Jordan

“It’s always too soon to quit.”
~ Norman Vincent Peale

“Age wrinkles the body; quitting wrinkles the soul.”

“Effort only fully releases its reward after a person refuses to quit.”
~ Napoleon Hill

“Most people who succeed in the face of seemingly impossible conditions are people who simply don’t know how to quit.”
~ Robert Schuller

~ Conrad Hilton

“No man is ever whipped until he quits in his own mind.”
~ Napoleon Hill

“Most people give up just when they’re about to achieve success. They quit on the one-yard line. They give up at the last minute of the game, one foot from a winning touchdown.”
~ Ross Perot

“Never give in! Never give in! Never, never, never. Never – In anything great or small, large or petty – never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”
~ Winston Churchill

Never Give Up

Why can’t you quit and go back to your old lifestyle? For one, once you quit on a major decision, it becomes a habit. A bad habit. Now, to accomplish anything, you have to quit the habit of quitting. Wow, and getting dizzy. Once the habit is developed it becomes the easiest thing you will do. It becomes easier every time you do it. You will never attempt anything hard ever again. Every time something becomes difficult, you will quit. Here is a lesson I learned early on and have passed it on to my children. Life is hard and it is not fair. You must learn to persevere and drive on when everything in your mind is telling you to give up.

You must have a strong mindset to change your lifestyle, become more self-confident, and be successful. A strong mind is always looking to grow. If you can develop your mind into a growth mindset, you will not quit.

Just Keep Going

If you’ve decided to do anything significant, at some point you will think about quitting. We have all been there. These thoughts are at their greatest frequency just before you are about to have a breakthrough. All you have to do to be successful is turn the corner or take another step. If you just drive one more mile you will find the answer. If you ever get to the point where you’re considering giving up and returning to your old lifestyle, think of WHY you wanted to change.

Remember WHY And Never Give Up

To reiterate, when you make that life-changing decision at some point you will think about quitting. Whatever you decide to do is going to seem harder than he originally thought. The thoughts of quitting will permeate your brain if you do not have a strong mindset. Always remember WHY you started, lean on your teammates, and always move forward.

Like the movie character, Rocky Balboa said, “The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life.” So when life hits you hard, take it, smile, and keep moving forward.

Have you ever gotten to the point where you felt like quitting? What did you do to break through and succeed? Leave a comment below and let me know your thoughts. Why Setting Goals Is Important

Who actually writes down goals? Well, the best answer is, successful people. Did you know that 96% of all the wealth created in the world is created by 1% of the population? These are the people that are extremely successful in building businesses and making money. By comparison, I recently heard that only 1% of people actually write down their goals. One could deduct that the 1% who are writing down their goals are also the 1% creating 96% of the wealth. For example, in my post last week on becoming an expert, I listed some habits of successful people. One of those habits is that successful people are goal-oriented. This is a great reason why setting goals is important. Taking this all in, I think it’s time we started writing some goals.

Do you need direction in your life? Are you uninspired and procrastinate? My course will show you how to properly set goals and change your life. Goals will put purpose back into your life.

What Are Goals

What are goals? Simply put, goals are just things that you want. Decide on some things that you want and write them down. Now you have some goals. For example, you might want more money, a bigger house, or fame. Maybe you want a better relationship or actually be in a relationship. Whatever you want, write it down.

They must have an end date. By setting an end date, you will stay on track to accomplish them. It helps you do a little bit every day to keep moving forward. You will also be able to track your progress towards reaching your goal. For example, by December 31, 2020, I have earned $1,500,000 profit in my businesses. I can now see how close or far I am to accomplishing it. This allows me to look at my plan and see if it’s working.

Methods

One method of staying on track with your goals is called, “The Seinfeld Method.” In this method, you get a large yearly calendar and hang it on a prominent wall. Establish your goal and your plan. Every day that you do something in your plan and work toward your goal, put a big red “X” on that date. The purpose is to establish a chain and never break the chain.

Another method is to put two jars on your desk. One jar is filled with marbles, paperclips, etc., and the other is empty. Every time you do something towards accomplishing your goal, move the object to the empty jar. This is a great method for accomplishing them. For example, A lot of salespeople use this method when they have a goal of making X amount of sales calls a day.

My wife and I have been together for 30 years and are happier than ever. Here are some tips on how we keep our relationship fresh and exciting. Get your FREE Relationship Tips Today!

The Person You Become

What I like most about setting goals and working towards obtaining them, is what I become from the process. Who will you become by focusing on your goals? What kind of person would you be after working on your plan? Like me, you will change. By focusing on them you will begin to get a direction in your life. It will give you a purpose and you will find you are better because of it. This to me is the most important aspect of goal setting, what you become, and another reason why setting goals is important.

Have you written your goals down and carry them with you? Do you have them written on the bathroom mirror?  Have you figured out why setting goals is important? Becoming An Expert Episode 29

In this podcast, Becoming An Expert Episode 29, I want to talk about what it takes to become an expert. Would you like to be considered an expert in your field? What are some of the advantages of being known as an expert?

  1. You can charge a higher rate.
  2. People have more confidence and trust in you.
  3. It’s easier to grow your client list.
  4. It helps in marketing what you have to offer.
  5. Etc.

Are You Struggling With Self-Confidence? I Have Created A Course To Help You Find Yours!

Becoming An Expert Episode 29

People who are considered experts in their field are also some of the most successful. Author Stephen King is an expert in the genre of horror fiction. If you wanted to begin writing horror fiction novels, he would be a good source. In the field of business, Richard Branson would be considered an expert. He has taken a small record store and turned it into several other highly successful businesses. When I’m thinking about American football one name comes to mind, Tom Brady. Because of his success, he would be considered an expert on being a quarterback as well as on becoming a champion.

The thing about becoming an expert and being successful is there are no shortcuts. I know today, living in our fast food society, we want everything right now. Unfortunately, striving to be the best takes time. No one is born an expert. Your gift is inside you when you’re born but you must develop that gift. Becoming an expert only happens through training and experience. It is said that to be an expert at anything you must do it repeatedly for at least 10,000 hours. When I was a Special Agent with DEA, I was considered an expert in narcotics trafficking and smuggling techniques. I didn’t have that knowledge when I was hired or even after I graduated from the Academy. It took many years of studying and experience to become an expert.

Habits Of Successful People

As I was researching this post, I realized that successful people tend to have the same habits. In his book, Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill spent 20 years studying the richest and most successful men in America at that time. He came up with 13 qualities that all these men shared. I came upon an article on the website weekplan.net which lists 50 habits of successful people. Here are a few of those habits.

  1. They are early risers.
  2. Meditation.
  3. Love of reading.
  4. They spend time on focused thinking.
  5. Exercise is a part of their day.
  6. Their network contains like-minded individuals.
  7. They set goals.
  8. Multiple sources of income.
  9. They avoid things that waste time.
  10. They consider problems as gifts.

Episode 28 How To Overcome Self-Doubt

I’ve talked about this in several previous articles and want to discuss it more thoroughly today. I’m talking about those little creatures that hide deep inside our minds. The ones that pop up at the worst of times. Their only function is to prevent you from living the life you so richly deserve. Yes, I am talking about those dreaded “Doubt Demons!” They are there, dug in deep and camouflaged, waiting for the right time to come out. It is imperative to stifle these demons. If at all possible, they should be eradicated.

Take Control Of Your Life! My Courses Give You What You Need.

Like all demons, they are created by fear. They are particularly active right after you make a decision to change yourself for the better. Have you ever tried to lose weight and began to get cravings for unhealthy foods? Doubt Demons. If you’ve ever attempted to get a promotion, you might have started noticing the quality of the other candidates. You begin to compare yourself with them and believe that they are better. Doubt Demons. Did you start a business for financial freedom? After you made that decision were you engulfed in fear, asking yourself, “how will I pay the bills?” Doubt Demons.

Where They Come From

Any thought you have that fills you with fear is placed there by the Doubt Demons. Where do they come from? Unfortunately, these Doubt Demons can be given life inadvertently. When we are young and our thoughts are forming, we are very vulnerable. Many times our Doubt Demons are placed into our subconscious mind by adults who don’t realize the harm they are doing. Often your parents, teachers, etc. have tried to protect you from disappointment. They say things like, “he’s just shy,” “she’s not a good test taker,” or “it takes money to make money.”

Statements

Any statement such as the ones above gives life to these Doubt Demons. Imagine what will happen if you want to ask out the girl of your dreams but you been told that you are shy. You want to go to the college of your choice but are “not a good test taker.” Doubt Demons are not exclusively given life just when we’re young. They can also be placed in us as adults by our coworkers and friends. Have you ever told a friend about a big dream? If their response was less than enthusiastic, it gave life to your Doubt Demons.

Do you want some tips and techniques to control your Doubt Demons? Listen to my podcast above, Episode 28 How To Overcome Self-Doubt.

Perseverance Is The Key To Success

Do you ever wonder, why isn’t anything easy? Wouldn’t it be so nice if we could go through life without any struggles? Especially during these trying times in which we are currently living. Unfortunately, that doesn’t happen because life itself is a struggle and it takes strength and perseverance to get by. People who succeed in life are persistent. They learn how to improvise, adapt, and overcome. This is a phrase that Clint Eastwood made famous in his movie, Heartbreak Ridge. Perseverance is the key to success.

Let’s Accomplish Something Great Together! Get Your FREE Checklist!

Perseverance Is The Key To Success

You can’t get something great without giving something up. The struggles that we go through are necessary in order to accomplish our goals. God presents these struggles to us and we must learn to overcome them. Even though our struggles seem mighty, God never gives us more than we can handle. Whatever you’re going through, rest assured that it’s already inside you to overcome that struggle. The comedian Steve Harvey talks about his struggles when he first tried to make it in comedy. Looking at him now you would never know that he had to live in his car for three years while he was struggling to make it. He persevered and now leads an abundant wealthy lifestyle. He had no idea how long it would take him to achieve his goals.

Persevere, Your Struggles Don’t Last Forever

We must persevere because our struggles don’t last forever. As I said earlier, they can never be too hard because God never gives us more than we can handle. If you improvise, adapt, and overcome, you will come out stronger and better. You can have the life you always wanted. In order to persevere, you must have a definitive purpose, a big WHY. This will get you through when it gets too hard, and you don’t feel like it’s worth the struggle. Do a little bit every day to get you closer to your goals and always keep moving forward, never go back. A great book to read on perseverance is “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho

Are you hurting right now? Is life kicking you in the teeth and every day is a struggle?  We are all going through tough times these days and no one knows when it will end.  All we can do is improvise, adapt, and overcome. Set your goals, make a plan, and put action to that plan. Find your definitive purpose and if you don’t have one, ask. It will be shown to you. Keep things simple and form a team of people who will support you until your struggle ends. Were all in this together and we will need the help of each other to get through. Perseverance is the key to success.

Episode 25: Failure To Success

In today’s podcast, Episode 25: Failure To Success, I discuss why failure is necessary on your journey to success. Every failure provides a learning opportunity.

Do you want to be in the same place a year from now? If not I have the solution.

Episode 25: Failure To Success

What is failure? How do we define it? In the dictionary failure has many meanings, it can be defined as a lack of success or one that has failed. I believe this is too broad a definition and I refer back to some of my previous posts where I talked about success. Success being different for each person means also that failure can be different for different people. I prefer to define failure as a necessary building block on the road to success. Very few people have immediate success when they begin a new venture.

failure-to-success-girl-running-snow
Get up, begin again

No Success Is Without It’s Failures

We must come to understand that failure is important and necessary to succeed. Everything is a learning process and I like to refer to the process as a journey. We all start out on a journey with a full pack of food and gear. The first steps are taken on a nice comfortable well-worn path as we are full of energy. At some point along the way, the path becomes overgrown with vines and covered in rocks. Our food supply begins to dwindle as our journey becomes more laborious. We don’t arrive at our destination before winter sets in and we have to turn back. Our journey is a failure.

We didn’t quit on our journey; we are just temporarily delayed. Our failure has presented itself as a learning lesson that our journey will take longer and we need to begin earlier in the year before winter sets in. Most journeys to success follow the same path, begin, fail, learn, and begin again.

Subscribe to my monthly newsletter and get your FREE Checklist For Success!

Mistakes We Make

One of the biggest mistakes I believe we make in our society is not teaching children about failure. We plant the idea of perfection in their heads by saying things like, “don’t color outside the lines.” We teach that failure is a bad thing, children don’t learn how to deal with failure when it happens. This can put a lot of pressure on a young mind. Instead, let’s begin to teach children that failure is a steppingstone and to learn from it. Utilize failure in order to succeed.

In conclusion, the idea that I would like you to take away from this article is to get rid of your fear of failure. Embrace your failures, use them as a learning tool, and make changes to your plan. Remember that your goal doesn’t change, only your plan. With every failure, you will find yourself one step closer to becoming the person you are meant to be. The only way you can truly fail at anything is to quit. Never quit.

Episode 24: Finding Confidence Within You

In Episode 24: Finding Confidence Within You, I show you how I found my confidence and it changed my life. If you knew me early on in my life, you might’ve got the impression that I was a noticeably confident individual. I looked confident on the outside because I was athletic, smart, and always had lots of friends.
What you wouldn’t have seen was the true person of who I really was, a person that was not confident on the inside.

Are You Struggling With Self-Confidence? I Have Created A Course To Help You Find Yours!

Episode 24: Finding Confidence Within You

My extreme fear of heights meant I had to make up excuses whenever my friends wanted to jump off a high dive platform. I couldn’t even go on roller coasters. Even though I was selected for athletic teams, I never thought I deserved to be on the team. Inside I felt as though I wasn’t good enough and that everyone else was a better player. I was always surprised and thankful that I was even a part of the team.

It Was There All Along

After everything I had accomplished in my life, I had no reason to think that way. It took me being diagnosed with cancer before I really to a look at my life and became confident. Here are some of the things that I began to do change. I:

  • Looked at ALL the successes I had had throughout my life;
  • Stopped having unrealistic expectations of myself;
  • Started reading more books;
  • Changed the way I thought about myself;
  • Started speaking about the confident person I was;
  • Stopped caring about what others said or thought about me;
  • Stopped taking everything personally.

Let’s Do Something Special Together In 2021!

The Best You

Do you struggle with self-confidence? Are you a different person on the outside than you are on the inside? As humans, we are all unique and we have to see the real person who we are. We are defined only by the words we tell ourselves, not by other people’s words. Tell yourself every day that you are a confident, strong person. Look at all the successes you have had in your life and don’t compare them with others. All victories, no matter how large or small, are victories. Celebrate every one of them. Every day go be the best person that you can be on that day. Life is life and some days are simply better than others. Some days I accomplish a lot, other days not so much, but every day I’m the best me. Go be the best you.

The Value Of Teamwork – Episode 22

In this podcast, The Value Of Teamwork – Episode 22, I want to talk about the value of teams. Have you ever tried to accomplish something alone? It is hard. By surrounding yourself with a team you will find it is easier and you can accomplish much more.

Bonus – Two FREE Lessons!

Episode 22 – The Value Of Teamwork

If you want to be successful at anything, you need a team. It’s just overwhelmingly difficult to make it to the top by yourself. As I have written in past blogs, your WHY needs to come from deep down inside you, it needs to be large and emotional. The goal that you are working towards accomplishing has to be worthwhile. It has to be realistic but large enough to scare you and be difficult to obtain. Life is gonna throw too many obstacles and challenges at you to accomplish the goal by yourself.

We always went into the jungle as teams. I was part of a 10 man team that was deployed to South America and lived in the jungle. In the military, I was part of a unit that had a mission to accomplish and could only be done as a team. During my law enforcement career, I always had a partner and we were part of a bigger team that worked the streets. Whenever we would conduct an enforcement operation, we always went out with a minimum of six team members.

Forming A Team

If you find yourself all alone on your journey, I encourage you to go form a team. It is said that two horses pulling together should be able to pull twice as much weight as a single horse. The truth is that two horses, pulling as a team, can actually pull three times the weight. If those two horses trained together as a team, then they can pull as much as four times the weight. By forming or joining a team it will make your journey to success easier, faster, and less frustrating. It’s a lot easier to quit on yourself than it is to quit on a team.

When you’re looking for a team, look for people who are like-minded as you and are always uplifting. Take a deep long look at the team that you’re currently on, mainly your coworkers, family, and friends. Evaluate your team to see if they are supportive and invested in your success or are they negative and insincere.

Look at the people in your life and you will see that you can fit them into one of two categories; wind or anchors. People that are in the wind category are always filling your sails and moving you forward. People in the anchor category are the ones that stop your forward progress, keep you from moving anywhere, and if they wrap around you, can drag you to the bottom of the ocean and drown you. These anchors will have to be cut out of your life, at least temporarily, until you are not affected by them.

Join Our Team!!

Opinions

As you continue on your journey you will build your confidence to a level where you are no longer affected by other people’s opinions of you. In a previous post titled, A Flying Rat’s Ass, I wrote about not letting other people’s opinions affect you. If someone else’s opinion or words affect you in a negative way and stop you from accomplishing your goals, then you value the other person’s opinion more than you do yourself.

The Value Of Teamwork can not be under emphasized, it is crucial to your success. The next step is to simply go find a mentor and form that championship team that will accelerate your road to success. We are all here for you.

Episode 21 – Simplify Your Life In 2021

This is a summary of my Podcast Episode 21 – Simplify Your Life In 2021. Why do we complicate everything? We tend to complicate all things, especially those that are important, relationships, creating wealth, or getting healthy, pretty much anything. My grandmother could simplify anything. If you went outside and it was cold, go put on a jacket; if you went outside and got wet, you might need a raincoat.

Episode 21 – Simplify Your Life In 2021

Everything nowadays seems so complicated that we need to break it down into its simplest form in order to understand it. When I was in the jungle, I carried the explosives we used two destroy the cocaine labs. Trying to understand the scientific facts of how explosives work can be complicated. It wastes a lot of time looking at formulas, trying to figure out the best locations to place the dynamite.

We didn’t have a lot of time to do that. I learned in my training the simple fact is energy caused by the explosion always travels along the path of least resistance. If you wanted the explosion to travel in a certain direction, he just had to pile rocks and other heavy objects against the charge on the side opposite of the direction you wanted the explosion to travel. You don’t have to complicate things in order to obtain great results.

Iron Man Does It

The character Tony Stark, played by Robert Downey Jr., in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films, when faced with a problem calls up his computer and several holographic computer screens appear in front of him. These screens are loaded down with a plethora of scientific data and it might take someone days to try to figure it out. Tony Stark looks at all the data in front of him and immediately starts capturing a screen and swiping his hand to the side to eliminate it. He continues to do this until he is left with just one screen on which he finds a solution. He just simply broke everything down to its simplest form. That’s what we need to do to accomplish our goals, break down our plan to its simplest form.

Paralysis By Analysis

When we first start something, it can look so complicated that we don’t know where to start. We then never commence to doing anything and our goal is left unfulfilled. This is called “Paralysis by Analysis.” We just get too much information, over-analyze this information, and never get started. We don’t take the first step. If you’re trying to do something and are frozen by fear or are having paralysis by analysis, break it down to its simplest form and just do it.

Join Our Team!

You can accomplish anything that you set your mind to as long as you don’t get paralysis by analysis and never get started. In the military, we are taught early on the K.I.S.S. principle. That’s Keep It Simple St****. Break it down to its simplest form, do it, and build on it until you succeed.

10 Tips To Keep Relationships Alive – Ep. 20

Invest in yourself this holiday season. Sign up for my courses.

10 Tips To Keep Relationships Alive

This is Episode 20 of my podcast. Here I provide 10 tips to keep relationships alive.

I always enjoy the beginning. The beginning of a relationship, meeting a new person who you know will become a good friend, starting to read a good book. To me, the beginning of anything is always exciting. I’m always filled with joy and anticipation when a new football season kicks off.

It excites me to begin a new challenge. I love the feeling of nervousness and wonderment I get when I ask myself, “Can I really do this?” I start a new business with the excitement of all the possibilities when it succeeds. I’m quickly filled with feelings of frustration and doubt as I have to learn so many new things. As I quickly overcome my fears, it just adds to the excitement of beginning something new. Starting projects are fine, but nothing compares with finding true love. I don’t know if I’ve ever found any better feeling than beginning a relationship with someone that you know will be there for the rest of your life.

Join Our Team!!

The Beginning

The beginning of anything that we do is exciting. For me is exciting because it’s a time filled with possibilities. These possibilities are endless and keep our minds from focusing on the nervousness, frustrations, and fear of beginning to learn anything new. Once you begin anything there are no guarantees of success. It’s going to take hard work and persistence. If you don’t feel happy and excited about your new venture, then you’ll never start it. The fear of failure will prevent you from ever taking that first step. Excitement and anticipation of the success you will have will help you to control that fear and choke out those little “Doubt Demons” that are hiding and waiting to come out.

As Stephen R. Covey wrote in his best-selling book, The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People, “Begin with the end in mind.” Begin your business, relationships, or projects with a vision of the outcome you will achieve. I didn’t begin my relationship with my wife thinking, “I hope this doesn’t end in divorce.” I see us growing old together. Don’t start a business wondering if it’s going to work. Know it’s going to be a success and visualize how it is going to change you.

When we first met

Tips

How do we keep going after those initial feelings of excitement fade? How do we keep our relationships spontaneous and joyful once we settle into our daily routine? Here are a few tips I can offer:

  1. Don’t take your partner for granted. Appreciate every day because we are never promised another.
  2. Enjoy the journey. The view from the top of the mountain is magnificent, just don’t ignore all the beauty that you pass by on the way to the top.
  3. Be thankful. Openly express gratitude for what you’ve been given even when you’re facing some of life’s challenges.
  4. Follow the Golden rule. Treat your significant other as you would want them to treat you.
  5. Write down your goals together as a couple. Discuss your hopes and dreams and construct a plan to make it happen.
  6. Always begin and end each day with love and gratitude.
  7. Do something new that neither you nor your partner has done before. Get out of your comfort zone.
  8. Take long walks and enjoy each other’s company and conversation.
  9. Travel and make new memories. You will live tomorrow on the memories you make today.
  10. Always remember WHY you started in the first place. I’ll never forget the first time I ever saw my wife.

New Car Smell

Even though excitement and euphoria fade, whether it be a new job, a new opportunity, or a new relationship, you don’t quit on it. You don’t get rid of your car right after it loses that “new car smell.” You honor your commitment to it. Those feelings when you first start something are very thin and fragile. They fade away all too quickly. It’s the true feelings down deep inside you that give you the strength to weather the storms.

These are 10 tips to keep relationships alive. Do you have any other tips or techniques that has helped you keep your relationship alive? If so, leave a comment and let me know what they are.

I hope that every one that is looking to make a change will make that decision, commit to their decision, and put it all into action. If you’re looking for help, I have developed some courses that might be just what you need. Just click on the button above and go check them out.
