Find Your Inner Child

Today I want to talk about belief. Many people lose sight of their dreams when they enter adulthood. We forget how to believe like a child. Our childhood beliefs become replaced by anxiety and worry as adults. Find your inner child and begin believing in your dreams again.

Find Your Inner Child And Believe

The holiday season is a wonderful time to reflect on your childhood. As a child, you believed all things are possible without question. A man in a red suit, sleigh, and flying reindeer will fly around the world, in one night, and deliver presents to every child.

If you have been good all year, you get the nice present you asked for. In contrast, if you have been a bad boy or girl, you will find coal in your stocking. These unquestioned beliefs resulted in many a wonderful childhood. You might have grown up, but you should find your inner child and continue to believe once again.

Believe In Your Dreams

Believe in your dreams with the same unquestioning passion you had as a child. The only reason you stopped believing was you entered adulthood. Family, bills, your career, and all of the situations associated with adulthood kill your dreams.

Find your inner child and begin to believe you can change. The Bible says, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:24 NIV. As long as you believe and do not doubt, it will be yours. The timing though is up to God.

Law Of Attraction

This is how the Law of Attraction works, Ask, Believe, and Receive. Belief, mixed with emotion, is the key ingredient in this formula. You must erase all doubt. You might ask for something but do not believe it in your heart, therefore, you never receive it. Ask God to release all doubt within you.

When you find your inner child, you have no doubt. Doubt comes into your mind through your experiences in life. As a child, your parents told you that Santa would come down your chimney and deliver presents on Christmas Eve. The next morning, Christmas Day, you wake up and find the gifts you asked for under the tree. You asked, believed, and received. There was never any doubt.

Reflect On Your Childhood

Today, reflect on your childhood and remember those wonderful days. If you’re not living the life you want to live, decide to make a change. Commit to your decision and begin to believe like a child. Dust off your forgotten dreams and start dreaming again.

Begin to develop daily habits of prayer, affirmations, and meditation. Tell yourself every day, “I release all doubt;” “I release everything that is holding me back.” Do this several times a day, every day, and begin to build belief. In time, your doubts will appear less often, and you will feel the belief building inside of you.

Ask God

Ask God for what you want and believe in your heart that you will receive it. Remember that the Bible also tells us to ask in faith, with no doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all his ways. James 1:5-8 ESV.

Take some time for yourself to relax and reflect on your childhood. Find your inner child and the ability to believe like a child.

Destiny Is A Farce

2022 is off to a fast start for my family and me. Good things have been happening, especially in my wife’s business. With good things seems to come the bad, for example, resistance. Resistance happens to everyone and comes in the form of bad news, petty arguments, or other things that happen. Before I would’ve chalked it all up to destiny and that I was not destined for great things. Now, I know that destiny is a farce. Any negative that comes with the good is just life.

Destiny Is A Farce

I now have the tools to fix resistance when I feel it and see it happening. By keeping my heart open, and letting everything flow through me, I do not allow resistance to stay. If a family member holds on to negative feelings, I tell them to “Let It Go.” I want to live in the Now, not in the past.

Our thoughts and how we handle life are based on our past experiences. The brain, being wired for survival, will establish a comfort zone based on our past teachings. The future will be in the confines of that comfort zone unless we change it. If we believe in destiny, then we believe our lives are set. We are destined to live as we live now.

Destiny Keeps You Stuck In The Past

Destiny keeps you stuck in the past. In my past, I always dreamed of wealth and helping others. I would search out ways of making money which always led to failure. It would leave me back with my paycheck to paycheck existence. As miserable as that was, it was my comfort zone.

It is by choice that I lived in debt and not with my promised abundance. I chose to live that way because of my experiences and beliefs. I always thought that was the way it was meant to be. It was my destiny to live a good life but never a great one. Abundance and wealth were just not in the cards. That was for the select few in the world, not for me.

Always A Dreamer

I believed that I was destined to always be the dreamer, but never live my dreams. The person who dreamed of exploring the world, but never left the dock and waved goodbye to the real explorers. That is how I thought in the past.

destiny-farce-explorers-ship-greyscale
https://unsplash.com/@museumsvictoria

Knowing now that destiny is a farce, this is not how I will live the rest of my life. I am created for better things. I am made by and from God, and everything I have done was done by God. God gave me the ability to make money and use my abundance to help others. It is my choice whether I believe in my abilities or not.

Stop Believing In Destiny

For anyone reading this who thought as I did, stop believing in destiny. Create your own destiny! The only difference between the explorers and the people on the dock is the explorers know destiny is a farce. Great writers and artists became great because they picked up a pen or brush and let their creative juices flow.

They didn’t believe it was only for other people to be great; they knew they could. If they were taught about destiny, they ignored the teachings. They dreamed, pursued their dreams, and became great.

The breath of life was given to you to be great, not just good but great. There is no predetermined destiny for you. You and only you can choose to pursue your dreams or not. Destiny is a farce.

How To Stop Self-Sabotaging

Episode 47 How To Stop Self-Sabotaging. Learn to recognize the different ways you can be sabotaging your dreams.

Learn To Stop Self-Sabotaging Your Dreams

We all have dreams. Dreams of accomplishing something big or living a better life. The dreams we have started when we were children. We dreamt of being superheroes or being wealthy and driving that luxury car. In our minds, we were rock stars and great athletes. We married our prince or princess and lived happily ever after. As we got older our dreams might have changed. Many times life doesn’t turn out the way we dreamed it would as children. We forget about our dreams and accept life as it is. Have you forgotten about your dreams? Did you lock them away in a trunk and bury them in your dark, damp basement?

My wife and I have been together for 30 years and are happier than ever. Here are some tips on how we keep our relationship fresh and exciting. Get your FREE Relationship Tips Today!

Don’t Bury Your Dreams

Why do we bury our dreams? A small percentage of the population never does. They continue to pursue their dreams until they turn them into reality. These people persevere and overcome all challenges that life throws at them. They know that they are in control of their outcome. Whether they succeed or fail is up to them. The larger percentage of the population never realize their dreams mainly because of self-sabotage. They allow outside forces to determine the type of life that they will live. Learn to recognize when you are self-sabotaging and how to stop.

For me, I have a dream of helping millions of people, not one or two but millions. I dreamed that those millions will use what I taught them to help billions. I want to do this through my blog, my podcast, and the courses that I develop. Currently, I have developed courses on self-confidence and goal setting. My plans are to develop many more courses and I am working on that every day. For me to be successful I have to be aware of and avoid self-sabotage.

Five Ways

The definition of sabotage is an act or process which tends to hurt or hamper. So, what are some of the things that you are doing to sabotage your efforts? These are things that are holding you back in keeping you from moving forward. Here are five ways in which you are self-sabotaging:

  1. Your words and thoughts are not in alignment;
  2. You are speaking what you have;
  3. Not controlling your fears;
  4. Your circle of friends;
  5. Trying to accomplish your dreams alone.

Imposter Syndrome

Many times when we are speaking positive affirmations we are subject to a psychological effect called, “Imposter Syndrome.” Imposter syndrome is a psychological pattern in which a person doubts their skills, talents, or accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a “fraud” We don’t believe what we are saying, therefore, our thoughts are different than our words. The way to defeat this sabotage is by continuing your positive affirmations until you begin to believe. Once you believe in yourself your words and thoughts will come into alignment.

https://unsplash.com/@jannerboy62

Speak What You Want

Another way that you are self-sabotaging is that you are speaking what you have not what you want. You tend to focus on the negative when you are speaking. This is only going to continue to bring what you don’t want into your life. For example, if you are currently struggling financially and someone asks, “how are you doing?” How do you respond? Do you tell them what you have, “a lot of debt”, or what you want, “I am financially independent?” Think about the words that come out your mouth before you say them and only speak what you want not what you have.

Fears

Your fears can be a powerful tool for self-sabotage. Fears are something that everyone has and you have to learn how to control them. I already mentioned how your fear of being a “fraud” can sabotage your dreams. One of the biggest fears that will keep you from achieving your dreams is the fear of criticism. Your fear that you will be criticized, or made fun of, will prevent you from doing what is necessary to accomplish your dream. Your dream has to be bigger and more important to you than the opinion of others. Never tell your big dream to small-minded people.

Your Circle

Speaking of small-minded people, who is in your circle of friends? Do they believe in you? You can be self-sabotaging your dreams by simply listening to your small-minded friends and family. I place people into two categories, “Wind,” which will fill your sails and push you forward or, “Anchors,” which will keep you from moving and possibly pull you down with them. Most of my time is spent with people who believe in me. I don’t have time, and neither do you, for the anchors in your life. Don’t allow other people to decide what life you will live.

Find Your Team

Finally, don’t sabotage your dreams by trying to accomplish them alone. Everyone needs help. Anyone who has ever brought their dreams to reality did it with a team. Your dream should be big, it should scare you, and it’s going to be too difficult to do it alone. Begin to put your team together that will encourage you and mentor you. People that you trust and believe in you will help you identify these patterns of self-sabotage.

Being able to recognize the ways that you are self-sabotaging your dreams and how to stop this behavior is key to your success. Make sure that your words and thoughts are in alignment and speak what you want not what you have. Recognize your fears and work on controlling them. Reduce or eliminate the time you spend with negative people. Begin to form your team and don’t try to accomplish your dreams alone. I encourage you to check out my courses which are designed for your self-improvement. All the techniques that I teach have been proven to work and will help you to reach your dreams. Always think of ways to improve yourself as an investment which will give you a huge return.

Kalpana Chawla Dared To Dream

My wife and I were watching the SpaceX rocket launch last week and it reminded me of a post I wrote about Kalpana Chawla. Kalpana inspires me because she is an example of making dreams come true by her thoughts. She accomplished much in her short life. Today, millions of people are inspired because Kalpana Chawla dared to dream.

Subscribe To Our Team!

I’ve always been interested in space travel. I watch every launch I can. I remember watching the first astronauts launch in the 60s and continue to watch the SpaceX launches. My first recollection of seeing Kalpana Chawla was when she was a member of mission STS-107 and was about to board the space shuttle Columbia on January 16, 2003. Kalpana stood out to me as the seven Columbia crew members were shown walking to their vehicles. She appeared too young and small to be an astronaut. How she carried herself with such confidence was what stood out to me.

Kalpana Chawla

Kalpana Chawla was born July 1, 1961, in Karnal, India. She always enjoyed flying and held many pilot licenses. She could fly about any airplane. Her family was middle class and she graduated from high school in 1976. After graduating from high school, she found herself as the only female in the aeronautics batch at Punjab University. Her parents resisted her career choice but nothing could stop Kalpana.

Kalpana Chawla dared to dream and always had big dreams. Her dreams were to travel beyond the blue yonder, fly into the heavens, and touch the stars someday. She became the first female Indian-born NASA astronaut. Kalpana wanted to show the world that dreams do come true with hard work and patience. She said, “You can achieve what you dream with strength, endurance, willpower, and confidence. She was 1 of 2000 applicants for a civilian scientist’s position on Columbia’s voyage.

Kalpana’s Thoughts Became Her Reality

When she was living in the dorms while studying for her bachelor’s, master’s, and doctorate degrees, she had pictures of space shuttles taped to her walls. She didn’t think at the time she was putting them up that one day she would fly on one. When I read about this it didn’t surprise me because what you look at every day becomes your thoughts in your subconscious. Your thoughts turn into your reality.

Kalpana-Chawla-dared-dream-space-shuttle

Kalpana is a great example that we can become anything we want to if we put our mind to it. She dreamed of flying to the stars, surrounded herself with pictures of the space shuttle, which became her thoughts. Her thoughts directed her actions and interactions became reality. She set goals to keep her on track and enjoyed the journey. Her thoughts on goals were, “When you are going for a goal, the journey is the best part.”

Heading Into Space

Kalpana’s first opportunity to travel beyond the blue yonder and fly into the heavens came when she was selected to be part of the crew on mission STS-87 in November 1997. She flew on the space shuttle Columbia as they completed 252 orbits of the earth in just over two weeks. In 2000, she was selected for her second voyage on Columbia as a mission specialist on STS-107. Because of many delays they didn’t launch until January 16, 2003. It was an ill-fated launch due to a piece of foam that broke off and damaged the heat tiles on the spacecraft wing.

On February 1, 2003, I was running on a treadmill at my gym and turned on the TV to watch Columbia land. They showed maps of the flight path Columbia would take to land at Kennedy Space Center. I began reading at the bottom of the screen that they had lost communication. The next images were from cameras in Texas and showed fiery streaks in the sky. I realized at that moment that Columbia had broken up in the crew had perished. It was a sad day for the world and particularly the country of India.

Women’s Struggles In India

Kalpana Chawla had accomplished much while growing up in a male-dominated society and country. In the 1970s and 1980s, women in India were fighting battles against:

            – Dowry

            – Rape

            – Caste Crimes

            – Unjust Laws

            – Better Working Conditions

            – and more.

My admiration for Kalpana Chawla comes from the fact that she would not let anything stop her from her dreams. She had a definite purpose and persevered to achieve her dreams. For millions of young Indians, she was inspirational. Kalpana Chawla dared to dream. She gave them hope that they could dream and work hard to achieve those dreams.

What Is Your WHY In 2021?

For my January posts, I wanted to get you started off right on your journey to a new you. If you have made the decision that you want to be better off this time next year, this post will supply you with the main ingredient. I know that you have set your goals for 2021 and written your plans. Now comes the question, “What is your WHY in 2021?”

Are You Struggling With Self-Confidence? I Have Created A Course To Help You Find Yours!

What Is Your Why In 2021

January 2021 is your beginning. It is time to step out on the path, look up at the mountain, and begin your journey. You should be excited and keep that excitement throughout your journey. Enjoy it. It’s not always going to be as easy as the first day. This is why you have to answer that question, “What is your WHY in 2021?” Your WHY has to be yours. It has to be big and emotional.

Think And Grow Rich

Every January I reread, Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. In his book, Hill defines the 13 steps necessary to obtain wealth. To write this book, Hill spent 20 years interviewing 500 men of wealth during the early 20th century. He discovered that each one had the same 13 traits. One of the traits that each man had was a “Definite Purpose.” This is your main goal, what you want to accomplish in your lifetime. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, and Andrew Carnegie Hall had a definite purpose.

The book was written during the Great Depression which was one of the hardest times for the country. It was a time where most people struggled financially and many lost everything. What a lot of people don’t know is that few people became millionaires during this time. They didn’t let the circumstances affect them. They had a big WHY and a definite purpose.

what-your-why-2021-dream-pink-purple-stones
A Big WHY!

A Big WHY in 2021

If 2020 taught us anything it is that life is life and it’s not all sunshine and rainbows. Circumstances can change very quickly. Life can either shine you up or grind you up. Don’t let the things you can’t control stop you from controlling the things you can. Two things that you have complete control over are your Attitude and Effort. If you don’t have a big WHY you will crumble at the first sign of adversity. A big WHY will push you and keep you focused on working on your plan.

Hill begins Think and Grow Rich with the first step which is Desire. He says, “Every person who wins in any undertaking must be willing to burn his ships and cut all sources of retreat. Only by so doing can one be sure of maintaining that state of mind known as a burning desire to win, essential to success.” Here he is talking about your WHY. I ask you again, “What is your WHY in 2021?”

Let’s Do Something Special In 2021!

Go Find It

Do you know your definite purpose? If not, go find one. If so, go find that burning desire to achieve your definite purpose. It is only by knowing what you want to accomplish and desiring immensely to succeed that you will bring about change. Find your WHY and you can be a different person this time next year.

If I held your head underwater your definite purpose would be to breathe. Quickly, you would develop a burning desire to fill your lungs with air. You would develop a big emotional WHY; you want to live. Develop the same burning desire to achieve your goals as you had for air. Fight for your goals as you would fight for air. If you do this, nothing can stop you.

A New You

The question remains, “What do you want to accomplish this year?” Do you want to be living a different lifestyle this time next year? If so, “What is your WHY in 2021?” Find your definite purpose and develop a burning desire to achieve it. Get started today.

Welcome to my latest podcast, Never Settle For Less – Ep 14.

What if this is it? What if your life, right now, is as good as it’s going to get? How does that make you feel? For me, it would not make me feel particularly good. You see, I’m in my 60th year on this rock, retired, and what I would consider successful. So I could sit back and enjoy my remaining days in relative comfort. I could read some good books, fish more, and enjoy a glass of scotch every now and then.

That won’t happen because I still have the drive. I love to be challenged, I love to be uncomfortable and to push myself to be better. The song, Walk by the Foo Fighters sums it up for me. I’m always “learning to walk again.” When one chapter in my life closes, I have to open up another and start from scratch to learn something new. I have to learn how to live life over again. “I don’t ever want to die,” is a great line from the song. Life is about the journey and as long as you continue your journey, you’ll never die while you’re living.

What Do You Want?

Do you want more out of life or is this it for you? Are you satisfied with where you are today in life or do you want to make a change? Are you willing to take on something outside of your comfort zone? Is putting up with some physical or mental discomfort too much for you?

When you see successful people, do you think that they are different than you and that’s why they are successful? They’re not. They’re just people like you and me. They had a dream, set a goal, made a plan, and worked their plan. Whenever they would run into roadblocks, they just adjusted their plan, they didn’t change the dream. If you’re not happy with your life as it is today then, change it.

Follow Your Dream Inspirational Quotes

Imagine how your life would change if your annual income became your monthly income. What would your life look like? How would that change you as a person? Would you be able to live the lifestyle of your dreams? We all dream and we start when we are very young. Some people dream of buying a certain car, house, or boat. Others dream of travel and giving to help others. Dreaming doesn’t stop just because we get older. I’m 60 and I still dream. For me, dreams are possibilities. As long as I’m breathing I will continue to work to turn them into realities. These, follow your dream inspirational quotes, help me to accomplish just that.

“To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe.”
~ Anatole France

“If your dreams do not scare you, they are not big enough.”

Follow Your Dream Inspirational Quotes

Do you believe you could turn your annual income into your monthly income? I believe it can happen. Many people do just that. These are people who never gave up on their dreams. They never let anyone steal their dreams from them. Through hard work in developing the right mindset, they succeeded. They see things in terms of possibilities rather than obstacles. Failure is not an option and passion drives them. Perseverance is something they do on a daily basis.

The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”
~ Alice Walker

“Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.  Live the life you have imagined.”
~ Henry David Thoreau

You begin dreaming when you’re young and naïve about the world. You believe that everything is possible. Children dream about what occupation they are going to have when they grow up. It seems the children are anxious to grow up. They are just reacting to the stimuli around them.

Children

Children incorporate their dreams into their play. They pretend to be the occupations of their parents or what they see on TV. Children dream about being heroes. They dress up and pretend that they are saving the world. Their dreams allow them to travel to outer space and faraway lands.

“It is never too late to be what you might have been.”
~ George Eliot

“Dream big and dare to fail.”
~ Norman Vaughan

As you become older the dreams are still happening inside your mind. When you reach your teenage years you stop playing pretend. You think and dream about what you’re going to become in a few years. Only now, it’s more grounded in the realities of your current situation. Your dreams also stay with you. You keep them to yourselves because of fear of criticism. I love this, follow your dream inspirational quote, by Shonda Rhimes.

“Dreams are lovely. But they are just dreams. Fleeting, ephemeral, pretty. But dreams do not come true just because you dream them. It’s hard work that makes things happen. It’s hard work that creates change.”
~ Shonda Rhimes

What Happened?

Whatever happens to all our dreams we have when we are young? Most people never live out their dreams. Your dreams do not get up and leave on their own. You don’t accidentally leave them someplace never to be found again. Your dreams are stolen from you. You are told by parents, teachers, and others to quit daydreaming and pay attention. Don’t live with your head in the clouds.

“Limitations live only in our minds.  But if we use our imaginations, our possibilities become limitless.”
~ Jamie Paolinetti

These words have a significant impact on you. They lead you to forget about the dreams you have and the life you want to lead. They steal your dreams. As you enter adulthood you might want to start a business. You dream of your office at the top of the building with your name on it. You see yourself running this large corporation.

The Reason, Not The Excuse

Don’t Let Life Stop You

What happened? Why didn’t you pursue it? Many times the answer is, life just got in the way. So you settle into your crummy job making somebody else lots of money. You don’t believe that it can truly happen. You are told many times that these are just dreams and they’re not real. Your mind believe that and turned it into a reality. That became your mindset.

When you get married and have children, you perpetuate this vicious cycle. Your parents stole your dreams and now you still your children’s dreams. They will in turn still their children’s dreams. This will continue until someone changes their mindset. You can break this cycle, hold onto your dream, and make it your reality.

“The path from dreams to success does exist. May you have the vision to find it, the courage to get on to it, and the perseverance to follow it.”
~ Kalpana Chawla

“Our dreams are what truly matter, we only have one life and we should live it to the fullest.”
~ Madeline Stuart

Me

Me, I have done all of the above. It was a normal day for me growing up to be dreaming of space travel and saving the world. My parents and teachers told me continuously to stop daydreaming. I thought I was doing something wrong and in their eyes I was. I have lied to my children by telling them that they shouldn’t, “put all your eggs in one basket.” “Always have something to fall back on.” These are horrible suggestions.

Several of my dreams did come true and my life turned out much as I imagined. No, I didn’t become an astronaut, a superhero, or save the world. I did travel to foreign lands, have adventures, and solve mysteries. These were some of the things I dreamt about. These are pretty small dreams compared to others. For example, Elon Musk and SpaceX, or Walt Disney and Disneyland. I wonder if I had bigger dreams, would life have made me forget them?

“Hold fast to dreams, for if dreams die, life is a broken-winged bird that cannot fly.”
~ Langston Hughes

“Dream as if you’ll live forever, live as if you’ll die today.”
~ James Dean

How?

Can you turn your annual income into your monthly income? I believe you can, many people do just that. Your life in the next couple of years can be completely different than the life you’re living today. How can you make that happen?

  • Never Stop Dreaming!
  • Turn your dream into your definite purpose.
  • Develop a passion for achieving your dream.
  • Develop a plan to make it happen.
  • Set your goals.
  • Work diligently.
  • Overcome all obstacles.
  • Embrace your failures.
  • Persevere.
  • Never Quit!

Walt Disney was a struggling filmmaker who was forced to file bankruptcy. That same year he formed a new film company with a loan from his family. He then created the iconic character, Mickey Mouse. Henry Ford filed for bankruptcy twice. He refused to allow this to deter him. On his third try, he created the Ford Motor Company.

“It’s the possibility of having a dream come true that makes life interesting”
~ Paulo Coelho

“You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”
~ C. S. Lewis

These are just two examples of many successful people who did not let life get in the way. They never let anyone steal or give up on their dreams. If you have dreams you want to accomplish it is never too late. Never let your family be your excuse for not following your dream. Make them your reason to turn your dream into your reality. Start today and make them happen.

Are You Thankful For What You Have? – Episode 5

I hope you enjoy Episode 5 Are you thankful for what you have?

Join my team!

I look forward to watching the NFL draft every year. Why? Because you get to see their dreams come true as it happens. The emotions they go through as they get the phone call from the NFL team that is selecting them. You see the emotions of the families that are there with them. Watching the draft makes me grateful for my life. Are you thankful for what you have?

Be Grateful For All

What you don’t see is the countless hours in the weight room. The infinite number of sprints they have run, or the endless hours they spent studying in the classroom. What you don’t see is the countless miles the families put on their cars driving their kids to practice, games, or camps. You don’t see the time the families might’ve had to put in working a second job to pay for equipment or fees. The families do all this to help their children to achieve their dreams.

For most of these young men, the dream started when they were a child while they were lying in bed. They held onto the dream probably through many ups and downs, successes, and failures.

Humbled

A vast majority of the men selected today will feel humbled, honored, and gracious when they hear their name called by the Commissioner. It is a pleasure to see them when they speak give thanks to God, their family, their coaches and everyone who ever help them achieve this dream.

Ungrateful

Unfortunately, there are usually one or two who expected to be drafted earlier than they were and are unhappy. When you see them on camera they have a scowl on their face and you can tell that they are angry. Now I’m sure that they think that they are the best player and feel slighted that so many teams passed them up, I can understand that. What I cannot understand is how they cannot fill gracious enough to put the other feelings aside. I’ve heard it said that less than one percent of all boys playing high school football will make it to the NFL. Just to have the talent to be in that small pool should make you one of the most thankful people alive.

Are you grateful for what you have been given? Do you give thanks every day? If not, today is a great day to start!

Don’t Water the Street: Creating the Right Mindset

Don’t water the street: creating the right mindset. Success is based on work. If you’re not willing to do the work you’re probably not going to have very good results. It all begins with your mind though; you have a thought about something that you would like to accomplish. You start off with a dream about being wealthy or losing weight and having a different body. How about living in a mansion instead of your studio apartment that’s worse than the apartment you lived in at college? Now that you have this dream; How are you going to go about turning it into a reality? If you’ve read any of my previous posts, you’ll know that how is not really important. WHY is the most important part of the equation.

Don’t Water The Streets

This is where your thoughts come in. If your mindset is right and you’re thinking positive thoughts, then HOW to obtain your dreams will come to you. You will see an ad, or maybe bump into an old friend and they will give you inspiration. You might even overhear someone talking and it gets your mind thinking. Don’t worry, if you are thinking positive thoughts, you will know it when it happens.

This business started because I listened to a podcast that was recommended to me by a friend I hadn’t seen in 35 years. I didn’t know what a podcast was! Now is the time to take your seats because here comes Story-time. I wake every morning very early, way before the sun rises and after enjoying a talk with my Lord and Savior and spending some time in meditation, I exercise.

Sprinklers

At that time of the morning, several lawn sprinklers turn on in my neighborhood. I have one neighbor whose sprinklers are mostly facing the road. He even has one sprinkler that shoots from halfway in his yard all the way to the other side of the street. This sucker doesn’t even oscillate, it’s just a steady stream of water in one place. It caught my attention because I have to divert my path completely across the street to keep from getting soaked. The only grass that receives any nourishment is a thin strip, maybe six inches wide.

What do your DREAMS look like?

A Lush Lawn

Watching this guy’s sprinklers water the street got me thinking that this is just like bad thoughts. You will only be able to accomplish your dreams by thinking positive thoughts. Dreams, like grass, need to be nourished and watered. If your irrigation system is adjusted correctly then most of the water lands on your yard and nourishes your lawn. The grass grows healthy and full, chokes out all the weeds, and you have this lush green lawn that’s the envy of the neighborhood.

Feed Your Dreams

If you water your dreams with positive thoughts then they will grow, flourish, and choke out those pesky “Doubt Demons”. On the other hand, if you’re watering the street your lawn suffers and nothing grows. Grass does not grow on asphalt. If you’re constantly giving into negative thoughts you might as well be watering the street because nothing is going to grow.

Begin a daily habit of affirmations. Write them down on an index card and carry them with you always. Read them first thing in the morning, several times. Throughout the day pull out your index card and read them over and over. You need to program your positive thoughts into your subconscious.

Adjust Your Thoughts

Just like you adjust your sprinklers to only water the grass, adjust your positive thoughts to water your dreams. They say you have to do something 10,000 times before you get really good at it. I’m no scientist but maybe that’s how long it takes before your subconscious mind takes over and you start doing and saying the right things without thinking about it.

Good Times

Throughout my military and law enforcement career, we went through constant training. Whenever we would make an arrest or execute a search warrant, my actions were automatic. I don’t have a clear memory of what happened from the time after we arrived at the residence, up until the house was cleared or the person was in custody. In that time-space, I was operating with my subconscious mind and doing what I was trained to do without having to think about it with my conscious mind.

Operating In The Subconscious

One day my partner and I were taking a break at Starbucks and sitting outside when two people ran out of the store next to us. The owner ran out saying that he was robbed. My partner and I ran after them and after a little while, I realized I had my gun in my hand. I had no recollection of unholstering my weapon. The answer to your next question is, yes, we caught them. One of them became completely winded, gave up, and just laid down next to the street. The other one we found hiding under a house and wouldn’t come out, so we called out the K-9 unit. He crawled out and was completely cooperative once the dogs got there. Good times, good times.

No More

Alright everybody, no more watering the street. Start your affirmations, repeat those things you want in your life until they come true. This is the point where a lot of people sabotage themselves because it doesn’t happen quickly enough for them. Keep in mind this isn’t McDonald’s and you can’t order a new lifestyle, drive up and pick it up at the little window.

Give Your Dreams Time To Grow

Dreams take time and we are not in control of when they come true. You can’t see the grass seedlings when they’re under the soil and it’s usually at the point where they’re about to break through the soil that you get frustrated. You begin thinking and saying they will never grow and point the sprinkler back at the street. A lot of people get frustrated when they don’t see results and turn to negative thoughts and words. If they’d only kept the positive thoughts for one more day, one more week, or one more year their life could be radically changed.

Success

Do you have a time limit on your dreams? How long are you willing to wait to achieve the life that you want and deserve? Some people seem to have boatloads of success when they are children while others don’t have success until they are in their 60s and 70s. Some people graduate from college in three years, some in five or six (You can put me in the latter timeframe). Both of them still have the same diploma.

Success is success. If you’ve ever graduated from college, you might have put your dreams on hold for those four years. A lot of people take 4 plus years to get a college diploma but will give up on their dreams after a few months. If you create the right mindset and don’t put a time limit on it, the universe is at your fingertips and you can live your dream lifestyle.

I appreciate every like, follow, comment and share. Keep’em coming.
