Quotes On Planning For Success

Now that you have your desire or definite purpose, you want to tap into your imagination to help create your plan for the future. I discussed in last week’s post, imagination can be thought of as your workshop where your plans are created and organized. I have also talked about in previous posts, the six steps for turning your thoughts into reality. The formation of practical plans is one of the steps. Some good tips on planning for success are:

  • Find a group of like-minded individuals to help you create your plan;
  • Decide what form of compensation that you will trade for their help;
  • Meet with the group at least twice a week;
  • Maintain perfect harmony between yourself and every member of your group.

Master Mind Group

This group of like-minded individuals is what is known as a “Master Mind” group. It can consist of as many people as you may need. One person might suffice, or you might need many more to tap into their “specialized knowledge.” Let’s face it, it is difficult to accomplish anything alone. We don’t have all the knowledge necessary to create our plans for the future.

“Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success.”
~ Pablo Picasso

“Setting a goal is not the main thing. It is deciding how you will go about achieving it and staying with that plan.”
~ Tom Landry

Everything begins in the mind as a thought. It will take a solid, practical plan to transform that thought into an actual physical item, such as money. Once you have your plan, go to work. Do something every day and continue to take advice from your “Master Mind” group.

“It takes as much energy to wish as it does to plan.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt, the former first lady of the United States

“The time to repair the roof is when the sun is shining.” ― John F. Kennedy, former U.S. President

“Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago.” — Warren Buffett, investor

Planning and Failing

Your first plan might not be your best plan, and you find it doesn’t work. No worries, most first plans fail. Henry Ford built two automobile businesses that failed before he started the Ford Motor Company. Thomas Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb. If you fail, go back and redo your plan and try again. Keep reworking your plan until you find one that works.

“Always plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the ark.” ― Richard Cushing, American prelate of the Roman Catholic Church

“Few people have any next, they live from hand to mouth without a plan, and are always at the end of their line.” ― Ralph Waldo Emerson, poet, and essayist

“Every minute you spend in planning saves 10 minutes in execution; this gives you a 1,000 percent return on energy!” ― Brian Tracy, author, and motivational speaker

Why Plan?

Working on your plan will help prevent procrastination, self-doubt, and anxiety. As you continue to work on your plan you will build belief in yourself and your plan for the future. As your belief turns to faith, then nothing can stop you.

“Plans are nothing; planning is everything.” ― Dwight D. Eisenhower, former U.S. President

“The more time you spend contemplating what you should have done… you lose valuable time planning what you can and will do.” ― Lil Wayne, rapper

Acquiring Power By The Mastermind Principle

I am continuing to talk about the book Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Today I will discuss the ninth step, Power of the Mastermind, The Driving Force. Don’t try to accomplish anything great alone. Acquiring power by the Mastermind Principle will help you to attain your goals.

Do you need direction in your life? Are you uninspired and procrastinate? My course will show you how to properly set goals, This will change your life. Goals will put purpose back into your life.

The Power Of The Mastermind Principle

Power is essential for success. It can be defined in many different ways. One definition of power is; power is organized and directed knowledge. Napoleon Hill believed in acquiring power by the Mastermind Principle. This helps you gain the knowledge that you need for success. The sources of knowledge are:

1. Infinite Intelligence;

2. Accumulated Experience; and

3. Experiment and Research.

Infinite Intelligence comes from the universe. It allows you to use your creative imagination to gain knowledge. You can acquire this knowledge through meditation and prayer. Accumulated Experience comes from tapping into the knowledge that others have shared. This knowledge is contained in libraries, the Internet, etc. Experiments and Research are conducted to gain new knowledge. When knowledge is not available through an accumulated experience you can find it through experiment and research.

Knowledge To Power By Masterminds

Knowledge is converted into power by organizing it into definite plans. You express those plans through action. Develop a burning desire for your definitive purpose. Create a plan to obtain it. Put your plans into motion through everyday action. Your knowledge becomes powerful. After that, more knowledge becomes available to you.

Hill describes the Mastermind as a “Coordination of knowledge and effort, in a spirit of harmony, between two or more people for the attainment of a definite purpose.” The Mastermind Principle has two characteristics:

1. Economic;

2. Psychic or Spiritual.

The Mastermind

The economic characteristic is simple and straightforward. It is economically advantageous to surround yourself with the advice and knowledge of other people. If you want to create wealth, get advice from a wealthy person.

The psychic or spiritual characteristic is more difficult to comprehend. When two minds come together a third force is created. This becomes like a third mind. A human mind is a form of energy. When two minds come together it forms an affinity or a marriage.

Energy

Energy is the building block of everything created. Nature can translate energy into matter. Matter is the physical substance that occupies space and possesses mass. This is distinct from mind and spirit.

As humans, we build through our thought process. By creating a Mastermind group our brains tap into more knowledge. Therefore, becoming more powerful. Think of your brain as a battery. A group of batteries is more powerful than one. Therefore, a group of brains creates more power than a single brain alone.

Henry Ford

A great example of acquiring power by the Mastermind Principle is Henry Ford. When Ford went into business, he was poor, illiterate, and ignorant. Despite this, within 10 years he had overcome all these shortcomings. 25 years after he started he became one of the richest men in America.

He became friends with Thomas Edison. After that, his business grew by leaps and bounds. His most outstanding accomplishments didn’t occur until after he met Henry Firestone, John Burroughs, and Luther Burbank. Henry Ford is a prime illustration of acquiring power by the Mastermind Principle.

Instructions

Throughout history, men and women have utilized the Mastermind Principle to increase the power of their minds and accomplish great things. If you don’t find yourself progressing in obtaining your goals look for someone to join you. Set a goal, develop a plan, and put action into your plan. Maintain harmony within your group and watch your progress grow.

The End Of Year Self-Analysis

This is it, 2020 is finally coming to an end and it has been a wild ride. This time last year who would have thought that 2020 would become such a train wreck. Now, rest assured, on January 1, 2021 everything’s not gonna miraculously become better. For me and my family, as well as a lot of people, 2020 was a rough year and I’m glad it’s coming to an end. 2021 is filled with great possibilities and it’s always exciting to begin something new. Now that we are in the last few days of 2020 it is a great time to do an end-of-year self-analysis.

Year-End Analysis

Let’s bring 2020 to a close with a few ways to conduct an end of year self-analysis. I like to do an end of year self-analysis to take inventory of my life. I look at different aspects of my life to see where I became better, stayed the same, and where I’m worse off. Some of the areas that I look at are my goals, my plan, my education, and my expenses.

Self-Analysis Of Goals

Since our goals are simply what we want they are easy to analyze. Did I accomplish them or not? Doing an end of year self-analysis of your goals is crucial to set goals for next year. I break down my goals to make sure they were specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bounded. If I accomplished my goals easily, I know I need to set more challenging ones for next year. If I did not accomplish my goals, I want to find out why. Maybe I overestimated my abilities and set unattainable goals.

Analyzing The Plan

The next thing I do when conducting an end of year self-analysis is going over my plan. Accomplishing the goals I set for myself all depends on my plan. If the plan I had didn’t succeed then I need to change my plan. By analyzing my plan I don’t waste time doing things that didn’t achieve the results I expected. Achieving great results means my plan is working so I continue with the plan next year. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

Learning

I always like to go over my education from the previous year. I look at the courses I purchased, books I read, and the people I listened to. Writing down what I learned, if anything, from these different educational tools, helps me to see if I’m on the right path. You can analyze what you learned about yourself, your business/career, and your relationship.

For me, education is important, and I never want to stop learning. This analysis of my education from the past year also helps me to analyze my goals. For example, if I didn’t achieve a goal in my business but I learned some new marketing tactics then I know I’m on the right track. If you are failing, don’t beat yourself up. As long as you are learning and doing you’re on the right track. Everything you’ve done in the past year is like sowing seeds that will begin to sprout soon.

Money

Finally, I conduct an end of year analysis of my expenses. I want to see where my money is going. Am I investing my money or spending my money? For my business, some of the things I look at are courses I purchased, marketing expenses, as-well-as apps, and plug-ins. I want to see whether they were worth it or not. By conducting this end-of-year analysis of my expenses I get a good indication of my return on investment. I can then determine what expenses I cut and what I continue for next year.

Bye 2020

Let’s all say goodbye to 2020 and look forward to making 2021 a better year. Decide today where you want to be this time next year. Conduct an end of year self-analysis and put together a winning plan for next year. Commit to working on your plan every day and you will be a different person by the end of 2021.

I wish everyone a HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I Lost A Battle Yesterday

Before I get started telling you how I lost a battle yesterday, I wanted to thank everyone that reads, listens, and follows my site. I have just gone over 400 followers and I am very humbled by your support. My 400th follower was minutewithmelissa.com. She is a wonderful and talented writer that has definitely been blessed by God. I’ve added a link to her site, so go on over there and check it out.

I know I normally schedule my blogs and podcasts once a week, but I felt compelled to write this short post. I have a lot of people both in-person and on WordPress who tell me they frequently experience similar events in their life. Therefore, I wanted to share what happened and how I dealt with it.

The Battle Begins

I woke up at my usual time, around 4 a.m., and after completing my daily routine of meditation and prayer, I went out for a walk. I had a lot of energy and had a great workout. My day started like every other day, I was feeling very energetic and had planned to go film a short course on self-confidence that I’m putting together. My gear was packed and right before I was heading out, I noticed that I had rehearsed the wrong introduction.

lost-battle-film-crew
Filming My Course

Losing The Battle

That didn’t bother me, as I told myself I would just spend the day rehearsing and go film the next day. Around noon something very strange happened. I became extremely fatigued and felt like I wanted to go to sleep. There was no reason that I could think of for me to feel this way. I fought it off for a while and then quickly realized I was losing the battle, so I laid down and took a nap.

Three hours later, I woke up and still felt extremely tired. I couldn’t focus on anything and just felt like going back to sleep. As a result, I just laid in bed until dinner, and after dinner went back and lied down. I went to sleep at my normal time, around 9:30 or 10, after giving thanks for my day and the day to come.

Today

When I awoke today, I was still tired and stayed in bed until 7:00. As I was going through my morning routine, I realized what was happening. You see, I believe that we are constantly in a war between two opposing forces. Call it what you will, light versus darkness, Ying versus Yang, God versus Satan, it comes down to good versus evil. Whenever something good is about to happen in my life, I get hit with the negative forces. Things don’t go right, unexpected bills arrive, I can’t focus, etc.

It just happened again. My wife just came in and told me that she couldn’t get the garage door closed. Now, I have to spend time in this stifling heat trying to fix it and if I can’t, pay someone to repair it. They usually come in 3’s, so I’m waiting for one more. Let’s take bets on what that is going to be.

Work The Plan

Once I realized what’s happening, I knew how to combat it. Stick to my plan. I can control my plan and what I do today. I don’t waver from my plan or my daily goals. There are forces that don’t want me to complete my course. I know that my course will help people and these forces don’t want that to happen. Therefore they try to distract me from my definite purpose.

The things that are the hardest for me and I don’t look forward to doing are the things I need to do most. These are the things that are going to help me accomplish my goals. I look at it like eating. The foods I don’t look forward to eating (vegetables) are the foods I need to eat the most of. They are the foods that are best for my body. So the battle continues, the dark side pulling you towards that tasty doughnut, and the light side showing you the broccoli.

Great Things Are Happening

So whenever you find that negative things are going on in your life, it just means that great things are going to happen for you. Don’t get discouraged, just stick to your plan, go over your goals, and continue your positive affirmations.

Today I feel energetic and more like my old self. Yesterday the battle was won by my enemy but the war is not over. Bring it on!

P.S. I couldn’t fix my garage door, so out comes my checkbook. If you would like to help me out and you live in the U.S., I would appreciate it if you would click on my affiliate links and purchase something from Amazon. Every little bit helps. Thank you. 😊🙏

You’ll never plow a field by turning it over in your mind.
~ Irish Proverb

Actions, it does speak louder than words

This is the most important step, ACTION. Your actions do speak louder than words. Once you have made your decision to accomplish anything, 50% of the work is done. Congratulations once again, you are already halfway there. The other 50% comes from the action of getting it done.

It’s great that you have set your goals, written a good plan, and are ready to change. Unfortunately, nothing will change without ACTION. You must do the work. This is what stops most people. They are unwilling to do the work and make the sacrifices. This is why only 1% of people succeed. You are not like most people. It is inside you to get moving and take that step.

You will either step forward into growth or you will step back into safety.
~ Abraham Maslow

Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home, and think about it. Go out and get busy.
~ Dale Carnegie

Get Started

A Small Change

A small change in your thought process can result in a large change to your lifestyle. That change is called ACTION. Inaction creates procrastination, procrastination leads to more inaction. It is a vicious cycle. So, why do you procrastinate?

You have to get out of your comfort zone and that scares you.

The fear of failure.

You might have a fear of success.

Moving Day

Moving out of your comfort zone is difficult. It’s called a comfort zone for reason, it’s comfortable. You don’t like to be uncomfortable, nobody does. But it’s necessary for change.

Fears

Whenever you decide to do anything significant, like change, you experience a fear of failure. This is common. Those annoying little Doubt Demons will come out of hiding, repeating those thoughts of failure. “What if I fail, what will people say?”

An idea not coupled with action will never get any bigger than the brain cell it occupied.
~ Arnold Glasow

Procrastination also comes from a fear of success. Many people do not see themselves as being successful. What will happen in your life if you succeed in accomplishing your goal? How will your life change? If your business becomes successful, how will that impact your time? Your family? You will have to deal with these fears before you can take that first step.

Reasons

Other reasons for inaction and procrastination can be:

Your goal is overwhelming.

It’s too complicated.

The timing isn’t right.

Goals

Goals can be overwhelming. Think about if you have a goal to become a published author. The thought of coming up with an exciting plot and intriguing characters that keep the reader engaged. Writing 50,000 to 100,000 words can be staggering.

If you wait, all that happens is that you get older.
~ Mario Andretti

That Overwhelming Feeling

When you start on a new journey there can be a learning curve. Your goal can seem too complicated. If you decide to start a new business, you might not know what it takes to run a business. You will have to spend a lot of time studying and learning.

It’s Never The Right Time

Probably the greatest cause of procrastination is timing. You want to change your life, but today is not the best day to start. You don’t feel prepared. Equipment needs to be bought. How to Books need to be read. You decide to begin an exercise program to lose weight. Procrastination sets in because you don’t have the right clothes.

The superior man acts before he speaks, and afterwards speaks according to his action.
~ Confucius

The superior man is modest in his speech but exceeds in his actions.
~ Confucius

Oh, That Smell

I’m here to tell you that all the reasons outlined above are one thing. EXCUSES! They all stink.

There is one way to overcome procrastination which is created by inaction and you know what it is. ACTION! When you take that first step and put your plan to action, it does some marvelous things to your mindset. Does action speak louder than words? See for yourself.

Results of Action

It conquers your fears.

Provides you with the knowledge of how you’re going to accomplish your goal.

K. I. S. S. (Keep It Simple St***d). Things become simpler.

You will eliminate all excuses.

It will ignite a passion within you.

Stepping out of your comfort zone will become tolerable.

You will learn how to embrace failure.

Action will chase those Doubt Demons back into their hiding place. You will be able to control and conquer all your fears.

Focus On Your Why

Focusing on your WHY will keep you from worrying about how you’re going to accomplish your goals. You will learn new things and techniques to put your plan into motion. These actions speak louder than words quotes will help.

God provides the wind, but man must raise the sails.
~ St. Augustine

Never confuse motion with action.
~ Benjamin Franklin

Your mind will take your overwhelming goal and break it down. You will look at your project in smaller more manageable bits. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. (Please don’t try to eat an elephant. They are magnificent and there aren’t enough of them.)

All the excuses that caused you to procrastinate will become trivial. With ACTION you will begin to eliminate your excuses one by one. Pretty soon they will be all gone.

Let every man or woman here remember this, that if you wish to be great at all, you must begin where you are and with what you are. He who would be great anywhere must first be great in his own Philadelphia.
~ Russel H. Conwell

Get off the Bench

The Greatest Reward

The greatest reward of taking the first step in putting your plan into ACTION is passion. It will ignite a passion within you to achieve your goal. Once you have lit this passion, you become unstoppable.

Stepping out of your comfort zone is hard. Possibly, one of the hardest things you do. Once you’re out, you realize that you can survive. Even though it might not be comfortable taking ACTION, you find that it is tolerable.

Don’t be afraid to take a big step. You can’t cross a chasm in two small jumps.
~ David Lloyd George

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence then, is not an act, but a habit.
~ Aristotle

What About Failure?

Failure is going to happen. Anyone who has ever accomplished anything great has had many failures along the way. The reason that they were successful was that they persevered. You are going to have failures and setbacks along the way. Embrace your failures, don’t hide from them. Don’t use them as an excuse to quit. Once you fail, you are closer to success. They are just steppingstones along the way.

Does action speak louder than words? You bet! Do you find it difficult to get started, to begin a journey to change? Are you a victim of procrastination? Have you found that just doing something, without thinking about it, is easier for you? Do you have a story on how you defeated procrastination with action? If so, I would love to hear about it.
